Thanks Deactivated user! I am not a Ruby person, but I'll send the Github link to our business intelligence folks and see what they say! In some cases, we're able to get our numbers relatively close (within 50 or so items), but for files (for example), we end up at least 400 off! Any insight would certainly be welcomed! Best of luck with ramp up!

Deactivated user, thanks for the explanation! Could you further extrapolate how the other analytics are calculated? For example, our reports do not return the same number of items for any of the Courses, Assignments, Discussion Topics, and Files Uploaded when we roll up our aggregates. Is there a way to download the raw files that calculate these numbers? Or, can you point to the specific logic if we are using the Canvas Data Portal files? Thanks, Hong

Thanks for clarifying -- is it possible to update the Portal Schema docs to include this information? It is not clear from the workflow_state documentation under the course_dim. Related, does a course have to be deleted and then undeleted first, but unpublished to have the "claimed" state? Or, does it simply mean the course has never been deleted and not published?

I've asked our Business Intelligence team to total the files uploaded, discussion topics created, assignments created, and media recordings for sub-accounts to recreate our own version of Subaccount Analytics. Our team is able to summarize the first three, but we aren't sure how "media recordings" are calculated. >> Is there data for "Media Recordings" in the portal? If not, how is this number aggregated? To get to a subaccount analytics: yourinstitution.instructure.com/accounts/[somenumber]/analytics

Hi jnuckles, Just to clarify: workflow_state ="Workflow status indicating the current state of the course, valid values are: completed, created, deleted, available, claimed" Completed=concluded Created=??? Deleted=deleted Claimed=unpublished Available=published Also, could you clarify the difference between created and claimed? Thanks, Hong

Any update on this? Seems like it was put on the back burner for Fall 2015, but will we see this completed during this quarter?

Thanks Eric, but the point of this feature is to avoid creating the Word/PDF document in the first place and turn to Canvas as the original Syllabus. Rather than create a static file, then enter all the details in Canvas, faculty want to print the Canvas information out as a single document. Make sense?

We need a way for instructors and students to easily share an individual student assignment submission with the entire class. In a previous lifetime, we outlined the functional needs in the old forums (see http://help.instructure.com/entries/21210657-publish-or-share-student-assignments-selectively) I know we can create an open graded discussion and allow attachments, but we'd like to take individual assignment submissions and publish it as an example for the rest of the enrolled students. It would be great to have a way to do this, as we used to be able to in Blackboard. Students could also opt to publish their own assignments to share.

At Brown, it's likely our programs in Education, Engineering, and Public Health would find search helpful for accreditation. We also have year-long courses that contain a lot of content (i.e. language courses) that are typically copied over year after year. These courses would find Search helpful, although not as pertinent for accreditation.

Our Medical School would find this extremely helpful as they prepare for accreditation.

This definitely needs more votes! Related is the ability to " modifiedtitle="true" title="expand the Syllabus assignment/event details. Some of our instructors have to create two versions, one in Canvas and a static PDF version for students. The Canvas Syllabus is always the most up-to-date and useful, but the students tend to like having a static file to refer back to. Being able to print/expand details gives everyone the best of both worlds.
