Hi Thomas, This was super useful. One question. Are you still using ManageBac at all? We have just completed our first year of Canvas, but also still have ManageBac. We have relied on the course planning aspects of ManageBac, which Canvas just cannot do. Am curious what you are using for this - or if you are also doing this in Canvas? ... View more

Hello @Sharmaine Regisford, Thank you so much for incredibly helpful post. I see you are from UW! I was recently at UW Bothell for about 5 years. Such a small world.  To answer your questions, So, are you saying the images have resized on the same screen width? Yes. Using the same computer, same monitor. And the images have resized compared to how they were months ago or minutes ago (within the same session)? Yep. Crazy. Are all the images changing size or just some? All images on the page shrink. They don't get bigger. Always shrink. We've checked using Chrome, Safari and Firefox. Same result. We also checked the navigation and having it expanded or collapsed did not change the result. I love this conversation and it's so timely for us as well. Thank you so much  @KristinL ‌ for sharing. And thank you  @GideonWilliams  for your points on design. I might use those (with attribution) in my next Monday Minute with Canvas. One question for you all, which I also asked on Twitter, but is probably better asked here, is how do you organise your modules so they don't become a scroll of death? Our teachers put A LOT of content in Canvas, and the feedback we are getting is that students get 'lost' in the modules because there is so much stuff. I know we need to do more PL using headers, and indenting - which helps - but with our younger students - the modules are still a list that they struggle to navigate.  ... View more

If I can secure funding for travel to CanvasCon, I would also love to schedule time with people from other schools to chat all things Canvas. I've had the amazing opportunity of connecting with a few Canvas schools, and would love for a few of my teachers to have a similar experience. We are an independent IB school, reaching all levels from Early Learning - Year 13. Currently we are in the middle of rolling out Canvas in Years 1-13.  I think we would benefit from hearing from schools who are using Canvas in the primary years and also from anyone in the Middle and Senior schools.  I've seen in the APAC group that there are those getting together the night before the conference. Hi  @Bobby2 . Just saw this post. Love all the resources here. Thanks everyone!  I designed the following homepage for our K-6 classes. In our K-3 classes they have 1 class for the whole year level and from 4-6 each class has their own class in Canvas. Parents have access to all the classes - and so we use it for general parent information as well as class specific information.  As we are a 1:1 iPad school (from year 4 on) the homepage is made with responsive tables - so it looks fine on an iPad and a laptop. I'm not a whiz designer by any stretch. I took code from a page a colleague developed and edited it to make it work. The page can be found in the Commons if you want to download it.  The goal was to make the homepage quick to navigate and use minimal text. Some teachers have added rows with descriptors and others have not. Some teachers connect the front 'buttons' to specific modules and others to different pages.  We have found using modules with the iPads tend to be easier to work with - but are less 'pretty'. We are also finding that using the modules can be overwhelming to the younger year levels - as it's just too much text to try and navigate. The students are not quite 'there' yet.  Our examples can be downloaded from the Commons (K-3 Homepage Template | Commons Version) and (Year 4-6 Homepage Template | Commons Version).
