Just to clarify this does not effect js in account and sub account themes? I am correct in understanding that? If so it seems like a good choice. What you can do via the api with js is a bit disconcerting.

So I wrote a small tool to process the data from Discussions that you can get from the Canvas Data Portal. It does two things extract and save records from a date range and download the canvas stored files linked in those records. You download the data files and add a header (documented in readme) and then run the tool against them. It is written in Ruby and uses the Pandarus gem to extract the display name of the file and the current down url. You will need to provide an admin level api token to run it. If that works, and I assume it does, then the API has been updated to handle this. What has not been updated is the API documentation that generates the /doc/live/api pages and pandarus.

Just to be clear this is running in the test instance. It is manipulating enrollment records so that is not something I would test in prod. If others are having timeout issues in test I will run with the idea that it may not be an issue on my end and test accordingly. Thanks.

On the test instance is there is limit to api call speed? I am using the api to inactivate the section enrollments of students that have left a course. I am testing it in our test instance and initially the app would do a dozen or so api calls and the stop getting a response from canvas. I inserted a sleep of a couple seconds between calls and it to processed a lot more calls before doing the same thing. I am trying to figure out if this is an issue on my end, some limitation on the test instance or if it is a limitation on all instances. Thanks

I am pretty sure that you can not edit existing comments. That would allow someone to rewrite the history of the submission.

If you are will to work in ruby there is a prebuilt gem , pandarus, that wraps the whole api and is pretty easy to use. GitHub - instructure/pandarus: A Ruby library for the Canvas API (and code generator for other languages, eventually)

Ok next bit (made a ticket for this on github) From leaving a trail of breadcrumb error_log's through the code it does not seem to be setting anything in the session durning /public/oauth2response.php setup. This means userid/api is not saved to the database and the rest fails.

Ok here is what I have figured out so far. The first pass at creating the BLTI works and sets things up but nothing is stored in the session. Then after being bounced to back to the canvas to authorize UDOIT to act as you and returned to UDOIT. At that point building the BLTI $context fails when it tries to find the setup in the session because it was configured to not store anything. I am confused as to why this should work as it really does not look like it should.

I so I have tried to set this up a couple times with both the instant heroku version and the cli version setting my own keys. In both cases I am getting and error of BLTI not valid: our key: XXXXXX when I actual try to access it from our test canvas site. Is there some common setup issue that I messing up that would cause this?

Teacher is a course level role so this would only effect teacher from taking a quiz in a course that they are teacher in. It is a problem for admins though. It might be reasonable to use separate root account admin account and only use grant admin on sub accounts that do not contain trainings that an 'admin' might have to take.

Yep it is in the SIS api SIS CSV Format In the SIS CSV Format page, users can set an inactive status in the enrollments.csv. When placed in an inactive state, the student is listed in the course roster for instructors but cannot view or participate in the course unless the enrollment is changed to an active status I also looked at the Live api (/doc/api/live#!/enrollments.json/enroll_user_courses_post_4) and it is setable there also.

This is an odd question but do you have Profiles turned on? We had some odd issues to SIS id's being displayed when we had that activated.

At the Course role level it is "Account permissions" --> "Read SIS data" and at the Account role level it is "Account permissions" --> "Read SIS data"
