I am also seeing this in our instance of Canvas.
When I checked in our beta instance, it appeared that the parent pairing code option was on by default, and there was no way to adjust it. My understanding was that it was going to be a switch?
I can report that RPNow (a proctoring service) has already worked and fixed the issues they were having.
