Greetings Canvas Campers! At 10:55, we'll be talking about reinventing the wheel. Before of after the presentation, you might be interested in seeing a clip about the wheel being reinvented. This clip inspired me to dig deeper into faculty collaboration and student engagement. We should reinvent the wheel. It's time. Reinventing the Wheel.FierroChristie.2016.41632

@Chris_Hofer I voted. It would be great to have analytics documenting the sharing. We also need to be able to add co-authors.

Canvas Commons is still a beautiful work in progress. I appreciate that we can start using it while it is still being built. It's kind of a 'chicken or the egg' first project. There needs to be content to use it, but at first there won't be a ton of content yet. It's up to us as a community to build it. I recommend starting a new course as a sandbox. Then add content to that sandbox. To keep things simple, I named my sandbox course Canvas Commons. There, I can download items and preview them. Files, videos, and images are already pre-viewable. In the feature request for this item https://community.canvaslms.com/ideas/1086#comment-11041 Commons Product Manager Deactivated user asks the community which objects we want them to start on next (what to make pre-viewable next). You get share your thoughts. We can see files, video and images. I'm guessing assignments would be the next most helpful. Back to helping building it - There's a contest! #Commons1000

Chris, I tested this out last Monday. Here is a screenshot taken by shight after I updated an object. Shannon had the ability to click on "view update notes" so see what the changes were. That update can be very helpful for an instructor needing to decide to keep the item "as is" or download the update. Then, what is even more helpful - clicking on "Updates (1)" showed Shannon which course she had added that object to. Here is a screenshot showing the note for the update. Notice Shannon is given the choice to "update" or "dismiss":
