Hi tr_jbates, Thanks for your reply. I did continue on with the steps and got to where I add the app in Canvas. I copied in the Consumer Key and Shared secret from Heroku then the Config UR, and this is what I got. I tried installing the app at both the course and the sub-account levels and have received the same error message both times. Thanks for your patience and time to help resolve this!

tr_jbates, I've tried to set up an instance of UDOIT in our test environment (I am an admin) and have followed your video and steps on github. I make it to where I click View after deploying the app. This is what I see when I click View. I can remove the "/safari.fix.php" part of the URL and get something similar to the screen you show in the CanvasLive video (see below) I've tried this a couple of times and always end up with the same results. Can you recommend some steps to get me back on track? I really appreciate all your energy in developing this tool and sharing it with the Canvas Community!

@rseilham how did I miss this presentation until now? This is great information on the apps! I remember the days of Speedgrader as the only way for Teachers to work through the app. The Teacher app is so helpful for our faculty who wouldn't otherwise think of using their phones or tablets to work in their courses. AND having the videos demonstrating the usage is an added bonus! Nice work here.

This is a great quest, @ryans ! We've just redesigned our Student Orientation which included a section on the mobile app. This is a great way to get some feedback on what our students feel is useful and share it with the community. Thanks for the fun push in getting this process going for us!

Thank you, @Bobby2 . We all did a great job surviving! We actually adapted the Course Evaluation Tool (provided by the great people here at Instructure, including Deactivated user). You can read all about it at the https://community.canvaslms.com/groups/designers/blog/2018/06/29/course-evaluation-checklist.

The Reflect and Celebrate blogging challenge was a timely inspiration to write and reflect on the happenings of this past year. As many in this Community, the challenges and changes we face throughout the year is just part of what occurs in the life of an Instructional Designer. But as I l stop to look back on 2018, it truly does seem to be one I am very proud of.
I received my Master’s degree in Instructional Systems Development December 2017 with the goal of focusing on immersing myself in my job as an Instructional Technologist. The Director of my department had been working as an Instructional Designer for several years but had no “official” training so I felt we could work well on re-imagining our department (we have been re-organized in the fall) and setting some goals for quality course design and development at the institution. It turns out our new Dean was big on planning and timelines which was a blessing as my Director was not so much. And me, being the “who, what, when” person that I am, couldn’t have asked for anyone better.
Planning, course development and even getting faculty involved in the course quality review process was making great strides forward throughout the year, my title got upgraded to reflect my new academic achievement, and even my coffee intake was declining (it’s an addiction J). But over the summer our 3 person department lost its LMS Administrator to another job on campus and a month later the director took a new job at a different institution leaving me as the Instructional Systems department. I will admit I may have felt a slight bit of invincibility after having received a Master’s after such a long time out of school, but not to the point of ever thinking I could be an entire department. I began to look at my retirement date and counted my sick days but it wasn’t working. All joking aside, I was going to have to move forward as the sole person in the department. The Dean had a huge impact in working with the other Deans and Department Chairs to step up in setting policies and procedures in motion to keep the momentum going for quality course review, development and training to continue on the track. By the end of 2018, we had launched new LMS training for both faculty and students and are piloting a new course review tool.
As with any successful journey, the path is never traveled alone. The path traveled in 2018 was a path I’m really grateful to have walked, both as a member of a department as well as “a” department. I do look forward to 2019 bringing with it the opportunity for growth both in knowledge as well as colleagues.

Thanks for responding, Brandon. We're having to consider some options for assessing with our online program expansion as well. I am working with faculty developing a course for Fall who wanted to test the lockdown browser as an option and thought your post was the answer for them. I've not been able to reliably test it out but I do appreciate your input.

Hi @bbelew , I'm trying to get the Safe Exam Browser set up in our test environment to try for our faculty to use. I've gotten our LMS admistrator to put in the JavaScript and downloaded the Safe Exam Browser. I've gone into the config settings and made the changes you listed. However, I think I'm missing a step or am simply out of my element (most likely the second option!). I get a message in the browser that Safe Exam has been installed but not configured. And when I try to access the quiz (with [SEB] in the instructions) I get the message about having to use Safe Exam Browser to access the quiz. So in order to test this, will I need to include the URL the student would receive with the config settings? Any help you could provide would be great! Thanks.

Thanks for the write up, Rosalie, this is helpful. We've developed several training modules using Captivate 9 with quiz questions throughout and were disappointed with the reporting results from them once they were published in Canvas. It was important for us to track the successful completion of each of these quiz questions instead of an overall pass/fail option that the SCORM integration was providing. This at least gives us more accurate reporting results.

stefaniesanders gets my vote as well! I am a Bb convert so feel as though I've been scrambling the past year to get caught up with the features and functionality of Canvas. Stephanie has been awesome with explanations, examples, code and just quick, thorough responses to my messups or any necessary clarification. Thanks stefaniesanders !!
