This would be a fantastic feature. If not a recording, then a very basic text box should be added in order for students to add their own phonetic pronunciations. As we promote equity in education, it is important that all students are referred to respectfully. While my name is an easy one to pronounce, I have many friends and coworkers who have struggled with people mispronouncing their names all their lives. It has left them frustrated when people don't even try to say their names correctly. As an online educator I want to be sure that I am helping my students feel like a respected part of my classroom community when receiving audio/video feedback or attending a synchronous session, rather than an outsider in the classroom.

Not only do we need a way to edit or delete comments due to misspellings or grammatical errors, but also because of the OTHER issue where comments saved on a rubric are visible to all instructors in a course. Almost all of our courses have multiple instructors grading in them and at this point we will need to rebuild all of their rubrics because not only are everyone's comments saving, but all instructors can see all comments, AND they carry over from term to term. It is imperative that we are given the ability to - at minimum - delete the unwanted comments. The amount of work this has now generated on our end is frustrating, to say the least.

We are experiencing this issue as well. Just to clarify your response; by "do a standard embed", do you mean have them embed the iframe HTML into the discussion response? Or is there a setting in the Kaltura backend that we should change?

I agree with @jongeo567Canvas . I would love to see the RCE built into the rubrics. While it would be nice to have columns align and other formatting options, having the ability to format the text in a meaningful and organized way, as well as hyperlink out to supporting information, would be spectacular.

@dlyons Following up with @Hildi_Pardo 's question about timing, I checked the roadmap and didn't see specific reference to these updates. The blog mentions "soon". I assumed that meant this quarter, but does the lack of reference mean that it's on a future portion of the roadmap?

Agreed! However for images the ALT text is part of the "Options" area. The options do not appear as part Ctrl-K; once you add an image you can select it and the "Options" pop up appears. It seems everything has been made fairly easy by the RCE update, with the exception of the link options, unfortunately.

I find it interesting that I was actually directed to your question by Canvas support after asking why these features are missing. To answer your question, no, the Ctrl-K dialog has now changed. The only options available are Text and Link. I sent in a support ticket about the other missing features and received an invitation to post a feature idea on the Community and a link to this very question. I find it utterly disappointing that not only do they know this question has been asked, but have no answered you. Additionally, putting in a feature request for something that previously existed and was a great help to our faculty is a bit absurd.

This idea has been developed and deployed to Canvas There seems to be a missing icon in the gear menu for members of a course in the People tool. The way the menu is designed, the Deactive User or Re-activate User menu options look more like a section header than an option to click. Confusion has resulted in this design as course coordinators have accidentally removed users under the mistaken impression that "Deactivate User" was the menu heading and the only option is to "Remove From Course". For consistency and clarity, it would be beneficial for all of the menu items to appear with corresponding icons.

At first I think I would have disagreed with the need to have everything unpublished by default. I think that it if a course is set up properly with dates and the adjust dates option has been used, leaving things published shouldn't necessarily be a problem. However, I really like the idea of having the option to choose how you want your content to copy. This makes it a more powerful feature because no two instructors want things the same way it seems!
