I have run into the same thing with New Quizzes. In Moderate I can see that all of the students submitted the quiz but a few of them showed as missing and did not appear in SpeedGrader. I can tell they completed the quiz and submitted it on time.

The change to the permissions removed certain permissions from people that should have them and gave these permissions to people that should NOT have them. And when giving the permission back to the role that should have it, it appears not to actually give them back the permission. The circle is completely green, everything is checked, but no joy. Also, when reading the various notes about different permissions, they are still referring to "Course Sections" which no longer exists with that label.

Lately this is NOT working. It's also not working in Copy to and Direct Share. And since the html points to the file location rather than the file name, they all have to be reconnected. The only time this seems to work is when doing an entire course import.

Again, Stephanie is correct, students DO NOT SEE the results of this action. It is only for the instructor to see. If you want students to be able to see this, they should go to their own gradebook and uncheck the little box on the right side that says "calculate only on graded assignments." Additionally, students could use "what if" grades to enter zeros for all assignments without a grade and it will give them a "what if" total grade. It is not actually changing their grade, it just lets them play with scores to see what would happen if they score a particular grade on a particular assignment.

Actually, the student can submit multiple times. It's actually unlimited. So they would upload files the first time and hit submit and then they would upload the URL the 2nd time and hit submit. For the instructor, you can toggle between each submission in SpeedGrader. I use this feature all the time. HOWEVER, unfortunately, even after YEARS of people begging for it in the community, students are only able to see the LAST submission and if you put comments ON any of the other submissions, they will not be able to see them.

Has it righted itself? We didn't change anything and it suddenly started working. Which was odd because students had joined a couple of the groups already and the rest were locked and then they just weren't! Lesley

Question, when you set up your groups, are you allowing self-sign up? We are having an issue where the Group Set has several groups with different topics allowing for students, regardless of section, to self-sign up for the group they want. Two groups are full, one group says "join" and the other groups, which are empty, are locked. I can't find anything in the guides that would indicate why this is happening. I am "masquerading" as students in the class, NOT using the Test Student view. Lesley

I completely agree. We're using Blueprint for Outcomes Assessment with our high school dual enrollment instructors. Despite giving them the instructions telling them to publish the course, many still don't and we cannot collect the data without a the course being published. Going individually into HUNDREDS of courses to publish them is just not doable!

We just had a report of this happening and I was able to confirm that the student was using the Canvas app for Android.

Given that Canvas Rubrics are a major PITA to build, I think it is ridiculous to expect instructors to rebuild the rubrics just so they can avoid importing old account-level Outcomes into their new course. Instructors should have the ability to detach the account-level Outcomes from the rubric after importing the rubric to the new course and then go into Outcomes and delete the old account-level Outcomes. As of now, teachers have no way to remove old Outcomes from their course. And if they just don't use the old Outcomes but they are sitting in the course, then the account-level Outcomes Report contains a BUNCH of empty entries for each of those unassessed Outcomes. This is extremely messy for the data people to weed through. At the VERY LEAST, the report ought to have the option to disregard any Outcomes sitting in a course that were not assessed. To be clear, I am talking about account-level Outcomes that are used across the college for assessment, not Outcomes that are created within the instructor's course. Lesley

I agree with this feature request. We encourage our faculty to use Canvas as a supplement to their face-to-face classes and have many faculty that give students the option of turning in an assignment in person OR online. If they do not turn it in online, even when a grade has been entered, it still says missing. At a MINIMUM, an entered grade should trigger that notification to be removed!

Is it still true that activity that takes place within the Mobile app is not documented in these numbers at all? This is becoming a bigger and bigger issue as students are using the mobile apps more and more. How do we know (when and how much) if a student is using the app?

For the Underline All Links feature option: Users can view all Canvas links without having to enable high contrast mode. When enabled, this feature underlines hyperlinks in navigation menus, the Dashboard, page sidebars, and text. I activated this in my Beta environment and it does NOT underline the links in the course navigation menu. It DOES underline the links in the Global navigation. Is this the correct functionality? If so, the documentation should clarify.

It is my understanding that no matter what COLOR the instructor chooses for the course card, Canvas will automatically override and select the color for the student's course card. That is how it currently works...same with the nickname for the course....it is for the USER preferences only. The new image addition is being added in the settings of the course, so it will be on the dashboard course card for every student in that course.
