In Reference to the Changes to New Quizzes: I'll echo some of the sentiment here. It's really a clarity of workflow. Generally Canvas is really good at having buttons in which their functions are clear. In this case the Save button is now doubling as an Edit button. Which I feel is just confusing. As well as the description of the change is also not clear. Here's how I imagine most faculty are experiencing the change. "Note: For instructors, any New Quizzes created in Canvas open directly to the Edit page for the quiz." And then what? What do I do to update the questions or settings for the New Quiz? Oh I have to hit save? What if I hit Cancel? Oh hmm that takes me back to Assignments. Why is there there just not an edit button at the top of the page, like in most of the other canvas tools?

Making this API call: Outcome Groups - Canvas LMS REST API Documentation GET /api/v1/courses/:course_id/outcome_groups On a newly imported (via SIS) course returns successful but empty. After manually clicking on the outcome tab(menu) in the course. Running the call again gives the expected result. Here is a video example of it. http://www.kaltura.com/tiny/i6gga I'm guessing that Canvas is not building out all the course metadata, until it's active? Maybe? I tried using general course info calls to see if the that would work, it did not.

here's a Windows Powershell script that will delete you from all of your courses. As @stuart_ryan ‌ says it's likly a filter is needed to not remove you from some courses. No, At this point I am waiting for improvements on the API. In the mean time, We are focusing on faculty creating rubrics and embedding outcomes into those, which works great for purely online faculty, Less so for those who receiving paper submissions.

SIS Id's can be used instead of using the canvas ones. Object IDs, SIS IDs, and special IDs - Canvas LMS REST API Documentation SIS_user_id "userId": "SIS_user_id:123456", To create more than one, run the POST call 3000+ times, usually PHP: foreach - Manual a loop in a csv file of userid's.

Short story: I'm building a tool for entry and reporting of course outcomes. I can do: Create/import outcomes for all courses. Get the results Write to database Build a report I can't do:(Don't know how to do). Submit/update results to an outcome for a student. (via api or LTI) Create rubrics via API LTI. I could use the submission API, but it requires a rubric with the outcomes aligned to it, and I can't create a rubric.(Rubric API is limited) I could build a one question question bank, build a quiz with that bank, use the quiz submission API, to enter the data. Nope, no Api to link an outcome to a bank. Longer Story: We have enough faculty adoption to start using Canvas to collect data on student outcomes for internal course improvement and accreditation reporting. The challenge so far has been a data entry process for faculty to use. Canvas supports Rubrics or Question groups. Which works for a lot of cases, but not all and there is not a good way to collect supplemental data. Learning Mastery Gradebook is a good tool but it does not give faculty a comparison to their peers. This looks seemed like an excellent job for an LTI tool. A course level LTI tool has easy access to the students, outcome results, faculty. A report could be built to compare results from previous semester/peer courses. (Something to share comments between faculty) probably in person meetings. maybe?(there are a few good Instcon presentations on this as well). If I find my notes I'll link them later. I went over the last 3 years of video seeing what other collages are using for outcomes. I just can't find a way to update scores for an outcome. Besides faculty created rubrics or questions banks.

I guess I'm curious as to the why? The challenge here is that course codes don't have to be unique so it's hard to pick one out. Unless your trying to get a specific group of courses with one call. We use our course codes as display names for students. A section identifier and the name of the course. P671 A+ CERTIFICATION PREPARATION I Although the Section ID is more for faculty. What's the challenge in using the SIS_ID? I'm asking these questions because I don;t know how to do the thing your asking, but am still making an attempt to be helpful.

The assignment groups are for groups created under the Assignments tab. Your looking for group Assignments. Using the API to do this would work like this: The groups piece would be 2 calls. List the groups available in a context. GET /api/v1/courses/:course_id/groups This will give you a list of groups for a course. Then you plug in the ID to get the Group Memeber ship. List Group membership GET /api/v1/groups/:group_id/memberships {Needs a group ID} Get the list of enrollments for the course. GET /api/v1/courses/:course_id/enrollments Then you could compare the enrollments list to the membership list. Attached is a Windows Powershell script to do that. It only gives student name and group name to a csv file.

Use a Get request to get the outcome_groups(ID's) for the account. I don't think you can assume it will be 1. GET /api/v1/accounts/1/outcome_groups Then use what Andy suggested: ...api/v1/accounts/*insert account ID here*/outcome_groups/*insert group ID here*/outcomes This is an example of loading outcomes into a Course rather than to an account. Updating the account in that way will retain the enrollment for the user. So there would be no need to re-enroll as it's still the same account. It would be a challenge to match them up. Otherwise, Looks like the catalog has or uses the Progress API check that then at time of completion enroll or re-enroll.

I'm not too familiar with Catalog,but it looks like it users the same setup for users as Regular Canvas. Instead of Merging the account, change them. Logins - Canvas LMS REST API Documentation You can change a login or Add a second login. Example: Userlogin is bob@notyahoo.com Add: SIS IDUID Then you have accounts like this. All the data would stay in the same account because it's the same account. You could then delete the bob@notyahoo.com login if you wanted it to no longer be available.

We have the same thing. In our case we often have users with multiple logins. A Student login and an employee login. Both associated with the same SIS_ID. Since the SIS_ID has to be globally unique. The second login for the account shows a blank SIS_ID but is still listed as ID: 5041 And it does look like duplicate data. But the API and the provisioning report pulls one line per login, not one line per User.

Hello, My institution is considering Migrating from Oracle Peoplesoft 9.0 to Oracle Cloud. SAIP for Peoplesoft never worked out as we had hoped it would. Oracle Cloud does seem to have an Atom feed that can be used as an event based trigger to then trigger a script to import a user or course into Canvas. REST API for Oracle Global Human Resources Cloud Release 12 Does anyone have experience working with the Atom feeds or Oracle Cloud and Canvas? Ideally I would like to improve on the flat file import that we are currently using? What are others doing with Oracle Cloud?

I think they added the times in the Dec 10th release. Canvas Production Release Notes (2016-12-10) In this production release (December 10), admins can set grading period start dates to 12:00 AM, find courses by sort options, and view terms by active and past terms. I have a screen shot from 01/02/2017 with the time in. ( Which implies an earlier updated caused that change) It's not a good quality image I had e-mailed it.

I also don't understand the lighting bolt for quiz. I often have people tell them they would prefer an e or t. With "well an exam is just a longer quiz" usually works. Maybe it's an icon for the thunderstruck students after the exam?
