If you have OneDrive or Google Drive connected to your account, that could provide an option. For example, I could make a single set of instructions on a Google Doc. Within a Canvas Page/Assignment, I could use the Apps option (looks like a plug icon) to select Google Drive (LTI 1.3). I would select the document containing the instructions (it will ask to adjust the sharing settings to anyone with the link can view) and embed it onto the page. It will load up in a way that allows me to view it on the page. Now for a few things it will do. It will likely put it at a Width/Height that is smaller than your window. You may also want to more visually highlight it for students. You will need to into the HTML editor, but the changes only need to be done once. I would suggest testing this on a blank page and getting it the way you want, then leave the page unpublished so you can easily copy and paste whenever needed. First, you may want to visually mark the space off. This can be easy to do with some Horizontal Rules (Insert Menu) and a Heading. The horizontal rule will show up as a thin black line, but can be adjusted to be thicker and any color you want in HTML. Then use the Google Drive (LTI 1.3) option to embed the document between the horizontal lines. Finally, go into your HTML editor and make adjustments. The horizontal rules will show up as <hr>, while the width and height for the embedded document will be within an iFrame code. Here is an example after making some changes (I stripped out the title and link, so the parts highlighted in orange below can be ignored as that will be automatically generated when you use embed the content): <hr style="border-top: 3px solid #008896;" /> <h2><strong>Instructions</strong></h2> <p><iframe style="width: 98%; height: 750px;" title="Document Title" src="link" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen" allow="geolocation *; microphone *; camera *; midi *; encrypted-media *; autoplay *; clipboard-write *; display-capture *"></iframe></p> <hr style="border-top: 3px solid #008896;" />   In the code above, copy and paste the entire line for the <hr....> to change the line style. The Blue 3px is the thickness (increase for thicker) and the red #008896 is the color code. Look anywhere online for HTML color codes, pick the color you want, and copy the code to this spot. Do it for both <hr...> lines. For the content from Google (or OneDrive), I've changed the width from the 750px default value to 98% (marked in green). I've noticed in code that full screen content in Canvas often defaults to 98.xyz, so I arbitrarily just did 98% for this example. This will help fill the view. Change the height as needed, but make sure to keep it as px instead of %. Once you have this done, every time you want to use this on an assignment, just open this test page you made up, switch to HTML editor, and copy everything. Then go to the assignment where you want the instructions and paste it into the HTML editor. One trick if you are less familiar with HTML and need to put this into an already developed assignment...horizontal rules are an easy thing to find. Find the spot on your page where you already have the instructions. Insert a Horizontal Rule above and below the instructions. Then go to the HTML editor. Find the <hr> tag (it will be on a line all by itself). Highlight everything from the first tag to the second tag, then paste the stuff from your test page. That will automatically insert the new code in place of the old one. Now, every time you need to make a change to the instructions, just go to One Drive or Google Drive. Update the instructions there and all of your content that uses that page will automatically reflect the changes. The above example is visually one way to do it. You could obviously use whatever style you want to mark the instructions for your students. But the steps to make it work for adjusting the height in HTML of embedded content remains the same. ... Have you tried accessing the assignment through the Grades page? Specifically, click on the title (not the chat icon on the far right). That should take you to a page that looks more like the picture of your Teacher's View. First thing to check...Go to Courses on the left side of your screen and select All Courses at the bottom of the list in the panel that appears. Scroll down and see if you can find the course in the list. If you do, then it means that the course had an end date for the term and that date was passed. All of your stuff is there, you just need to export everything from the Settings menu of the course to back it up. You could also feasibly copy elements from the course into another course, but if you have a lot of stuff, this could take longer than an Export. If you do not see the course on the list, that could be an issue that may require tech support. You can click on "Help" in the menu on the left side of Canvas and select to submit a ticket. At several MB's each, that could quickly eat up the course storage depending on how much your district/university provides. As an alternative, consider using a service like Google Drive or OneDrive. Make a folder for the images, change the sharing settings so that anyone with a link can view the folder, the put that link on whatever Page, Assignment, Discussion, etc. in which you want students to use the images. Make sure to keep the sharing privileges set up so students can only view, not edit. This should allow them to download any particular images if needed, without affecting the folder for others.  ... Thank you for providing an idea of how students can do this with Excel, and the notation on the additional boxes. I looked closer after you shared this to see some of the weirdness in how it merges/doesn't merge cells. Weird. A CSV export option would be helpful for this. There is an easier way to get the Text to Columns to produce the desired outcome without having to use the Find & Replace tool. Highlight the original cell containing the score (for example, 4 / 4 in your the first assignment from your picture. When you go to the Text to Columns feature, instead of Delineator, choose Fixed Width and hit Next. On the next step, you will see a preview at the bottom with an arrow, most likely right after the slash. Drag that arrow over to the four and click right after the first value to add a second arrow. It should look like this: This will split up the text into three columns, the first and last containing the values as numbers. Then just delete the middle column and change the headings as needed. When I tried to find a way to use Delineators, it kept outputting the first number with extra spaces, which then required modifying (or Find and Replace like you mentioned) in order to remove the space so it can be used in formulas without error. The Fixed Width option eliminates that issue.  You would still need to delete the extra rows to help with calculations. BTW, only the score and date columns have merged cells. After importing, select every other row and just right click to get the delete rows option. It will "unmerge" the other cells at the same time. Yep, another step, but one that could quickly fix that issue for the calculating without having to unmerge first. If you need the "type" of assignment (Assignment, Quiz, Discussion, etc) that is in the row under the title, there is another quick way to move that to another spot to preserve it for your category average goal. Here is a possible workflow: After copying the data, delete any columns you do not need (I deleted Status and Details, and base the steps below on that) Use Text to Columns, with the Fixed Width option described above, to split out the scores. Delete the column with the slash. Use =C2/D2 (or whatever your columns are) in E2 to get a percentage, then use the drag to fill to complete the calculations for the remaining rows. Go to F2. Type the following: =IF(ISODD(ROW(A3)),A3,"")   - The A3 in this spot represents the cell that contains the category, assuming you pasted everything into A1 to start. Then use the drag to fill option and pull down to the last row. This will skip every other row in column F2. Select the alternating rows originally containing the assignment type and delete them. This should get it set up for whatever remaining work you want students to do. Once you get used to it, the code is not as intimidating. I love the use of adding the horizontal line because it is such an easy thing to search for in the code. I did not think of this earlier, but when you are in the HTML editor, it usually defaults to a version Canvas calls the "Pretty HTML Editor." Searching for something using CTRL-F is trickier as it only searches for a handful of lines beyond the code currently visible in the editor. However, on the left side below the editor is a button to "Switch to raw HTML Editor." If you click on that button, then use CTRL-F, you will find the <hr> much faster as it scans the entire code instead of just what is visible. ... View more
