Thank you, @KristinL So glad to see this re-open. Group quizzing is very important for our instructors practicing TBL. Very much want to see this implemented in New Quizzes. This idea, about multiple attempts with penalties is also very important for TBL.

@RachelHanan Exactly. It may have taken time for this feature to be part of other platforms, but it is fairly standard across video platforms. Hopefully the development team will be able to implement sooner than later.

Thanks @Chris_Hofer Interestingly enough, we migrated an individual quiz and it was reproduced acceptably. I wonder if this is an issue with the bulk migration? We are also testing export/import versus course copy to see if there is any difference.

Scenario: 1) We import a Moodle course backup. The course imports without a problem. There is a module containing unpublished quizzes. 2) We successfully attempted to copy the course to migrate all quizzes to New Quizzes. 3) The quizzes were migrated, but were removed from the modules. Has anyone else experienced this behavior?

Thanks @mzimmerman. That makes sense. Follow-up: Does selecting "Copy a course" from the Import a course tool work the same way as the Copy a Course option? Are files counted against quota in that case?

We are new to Canvas. Can someone please help me better understand "copy course" versus "import course content"? Specifically: Are there pros or cons of either approach? For example: Importing courses and course files count against course file quotas. However, copying existing Canvas courses and course files reference the original Canvas course file quota and do not count against course file quotas. What happens to a copied course if the original course is deleted? Is the Copy Course from Settings different from Copy a course in the course Import tool? Thanks!

Groups in Canvas Studio were recently made available. I know it is possible to manually create groups, but is it possible to automate the creation of groups? E.g. I have 30 departments I want to create groups for each. Can I do so through a script or other automated way? Thanks! +1 @possiBri This is especially frustrating if/when someone imports from YouTube and that video already has the timestamps in the description. They do not work when copy/pasted into Studio.

I agree. If the default behavior for (classic) quizzes is to receive a notification in the instructor "To Do," then I think this should be the case for Studio quizzes also.

Hi @stewartk1 , You can click the release schedule Google calendar link ( Canvas Updates Calendar (Google)) and then in the lower right corner there is a +Google Calendar button. This will open the calendar in your Google account and give you the option to add it. If you want to add it to Outlook, once you have added the calendar in Google, you can open the settings in Google and copy the public address URL. In Outlook right-click on My Calendars and select Add calendar > From Internet. Hope that helps!

In some video streaming platforms (YouTube, Microsoft Stream) it is possible to create clickable timestamps and hyperlinks into the video description. Being able to create clickable timestamps is useful for creating a table of contents for a video. This adds functionality and ease of use for students to be able to focus in on a particular portion/topic within a video. The current description field in Canvas Studio only supports plain text. One can enter the timestamps but they only appear as text. Likewise, formatting (line breaks) are not supported. Description in Microsoft Stream: Description in Canvas Studio:

Adding my voice here to say that being able to edit videos after they have been uploaded would make Studio a much more useful tool for my faculty. having to record and edit in one sitting is arduous. Being able to make further tweaks to an already edited video would be awesome as well.

+1 @ellen_peters We have moved from Moodle to Canvas. It is possible to edit permissions per activity in Moodle or more specifically edit site permissions to create a role that can grade assignments but not access the gradebook. I realize that there are differences in flexibility between running an open-source product and a SaaS product. To be clear we are after a role that can grade assignments in Speedgrader but not be able to access the gradebook. The ability to allow a student to grade an activity, but not access the gradebook is something we are very interested in. The TA role is perfect for our use except for this detail. We have undergraduate students that are doing the grading and not typical graduate student TA’s, hence the need for the additional restrictions.
