I'd really like a basic polling function within Canvas. Something like when2meet or the myriad of other schedule-coordinating options out there.
For now, I use an ungraded quiz, and it's cumbersome. I either have to abstract things into categories and get just a basic, broad understanding of student schedules. Or I have to devote a bunch of time to work in all the granular options.
It seems like this is a really basic tool that would help users a lot, and it's just a glaring lack of function within Canvas at the moment.

The interface to find and add an existing rubric to an assignment or discussion is just awful.
The pop-up window is small.
I have to scroll down and left to choose from my menu of courses.
I have to scroll top to bottom along a single column of rubrics.
I have to scroll to the center right to view and confirm the rubric.
Extra actions like re-sizing and moving the pop-up window are annoying, repetitive, and requisite to manage the screen at all.
That's all I can think of right now. If anyone has any other ways this interface interferes with your work, post them below!

agreed, I also want to have students submit on X/Y assignments before moving to the next module.

I'd like an option to automatically grade an open answer/essay prompt as 'correct.' Maybe something like: so long as the student enters X words then the question is marked for Y points. My scenario is a short, free course with hundreds of initial students and open enrollment going forward. I'd like to offer a short answer prompt and an essay prompt. But I can't afford to go thru and grade this many quizzes at once, nor promptly on a continual basis. I could (and am currently) offering these are a separate assignment they could view and respond to. But I'm not lying to anybody, they know I'm not present in that course. I feel like a short page with something amounting to 'open a document and type a response that no one will read' isn't going to be very motivational. But if I could weave these little reflections into the quiz, which is otherwise graded, I feel like the chances of participation will go up. That's all, thanks.
