If you are trying to swipe after making annotations (for example, with an apple pencil) you should uncheck the annotation tool in the toolbar.  Then you can swipe to the next student. I'm not sure about the touch grade bar since I mostly use rubrics for quick grading. ... View more

I found I could swipe after adding an annotation by turning off the pen in speedgrader.  That is, I'm using the pen mode to write an annotation with my Apple pencil, but to swipe to the next student I have to turn off the pen annotation tool in speedgrader first.  Then I can swipe.  It's annoying, but not a complete deal breaker. ... I think I am seeing the same thing!! This is so frustrating, since so many of the students CAN get their video submitted successfully, and I also have no way to test the process as a student.  Any help on this would be HUGELY welcomed!! ... View more

It's not clear if that works, because Perusall takes up to 1-2 hours to sync back to Canvas, as far as I could tell. I think students might get impatient if that was the case. I sort of tried it on the first day, and couldn't tell if it was working or not, so then I ended up switching the Canvas assignment mode to "Mark as Done" so students could progress. ... View more

Jared, Thanks for the reply.  To be specific, I'll share what I was trying to do. There are simulations posted in an online book here: Waves: An Interactive Tutorial​.  The authors of that book have provided embed codes to be able to post the simulations to webpages.  Unfortunately, they are not using SSL so when I try embedding on Canvas, the material is blocked because it is insecure and students have to explicitly unblock the content.  This causes confusion with the students and I don't like doing it. Alternatively, the authors have made many of the simulations available for download.  The pages come in the .xhtml form that I was asking about.  I have had success uploading simulation from a different site (Astronomy Simulations and Animations ) to my Canvas courses and embedding the simulations directly on pages for students to access. When I tried applying the same strategy to the Waves simulations, I got the behavior I originally described above. When I try renaming the files from .xhtml to .html, they do not work at all on my computer.  I appreciate the helpful suggestion, but it didn't work in my case. For now, I will have to simply link to the externally hosted simulations, even though I would prefer for the students to not have to leave our Canvas course page. Thanks again! ... View more
