When I manually mark an assignment as "Late", that late status is cleared when the student resubmits the assignment. I would like my original "Late" status to remain...if the first one is late, the second one is late too. Is there a way to keep the "Late" status setting from being removed? (I think it makes sense for "Excused" and "Missing" to be automatically updated.) For more context - I do not enter due dates for assignments made on Canvas, the due dates are different for different sections and that information is posted on assignment sheets, so I manually change the status to "Late" if a student does not have a submission at the beginning of class.

Instructor question -- In navigation settings, I have the Gradebook hidden. However, I have learned that students can still see their grades on assignments when they are viewing the "Syllabus" tab unless I have hidden each individual assignment as well. Hiding the grade book always gave me the impression that no grades would be visible (which is how I think it should be and is maybe a change that could be made in the future). Is there a way to prevent grades from being posted without having to set each assignment posting to "manual"? Thanks

Running a report for missing work is helpful, but the current process is cumbersome. In the grade book when we click on an assignment we have the option of "message students who"... I frequently have two or three students who are missing multiple assignments, it would be more helpful if, in the grade book, I could click on the student name and be given the option "message a list of *** ". From there the options could be "Missing work", "scores lower than", "late work", etc

The ability to edit submission status labels in speedgrader is good, but it would be extremely helpful if this was added to the mobile app as well. The best part of the app is the ability to grade math/physics problems on a tablet, however, in order to mark a resubmitted assignment late, I need to go back to my computer.

Goal: Students submit a posted assignment which then unlocks the file with the solutions to the assignment. After the assignment is submitted and solutions viewed, the next assignment will be unlocked. Problem: Solution files and assignments are not immediately unlocking for students. It usually works for them if they close the app completely or go to the previous assignment and then navigate to the current assignment using the "next" button.

When I mark an assignment as "late, missing, or excused" using the instructure website those designations are removed if I grade that assignment using the iOS app. This is NEEDS to be fixed. We should be able to adjust the "late, missing, or excused" designations to assignments when grading them in the iOS app. It also

I found this suggestion while trying to make a similar suggestion. We need to be able to adjust the grade qualifiers (late, missing, excused) while in Speed Grader as well as while in the APP. Also when an assignment is graded using the Canvas APP, it resets any qualifiers that were put on an assignment using the webpage.

For students - It would be great if, when students submitted an assignment, they gained access to a File that was locked previously to the submission. This would allow teachers to post files with detailed solutions to nightly homework that students could access as soon as they finished the assignment (giving them immediate feedback).
