I agree, this default "auto publish all content" is a terrible way to run a course. Ultimately this affects students because as soon as I publish a new module, students get notices that they have man...
I agree that this is a problem. A setting in which any assignment without a due date does not show up in the Grades tab for either teacher or student would be a great solution.
