Our CSM escalates urgent tickets or helps us with tickets whose handling we're dissatisfied with. [Every known issue with the ticketing system has struck us! just ask Tara Cave!] Honestly, I no longer even bother with waiting to hear about my special tickets that I file for faculty as the Canvas admin. I simply pass them right along to our CSM to make sure they're handled well.

PS: Respondus 4.0 software can "batch" publish assessment materials to multiple courses, but it cannot post them at the subaccount or account level in Canvas. Tech Tip: Batch Publishing Tests and Surveys with Respondus 4.0 |

Respondus 4.0 software can build question banks, but it's oriented towards courses, not your whole Canvas account. There's no way to have it "talk to" your subaccount or whole Canvas account.

Resurrect this feature request, I want to vote in favor of it! On Profile Allow Students to Change Display Name Only "It would be great if users had the ability to edit their display names but not their "full names" or "sortable names" in Canvas. We have a lot of cases where a student may go by a nickname or other name but their legal name is something else. This would allow the user the freedom to change their name but would not create confusion for the instructor (in the Gradebook for example). Currently you can either allow users to change all their names (full, display and sortable) which would could be problematic if it is changed to something that isn't easily tied to what's on the course roster."

Our subaccounts are created by our SIS data sent over via an automated "snapshot" process that our IT Dept. set up to link Canvas with Datatel colleague/ellucian. If we admins try to delete or change any of those subaccounts, or move courses in/out of those subaccounts, it just gets undone the next time there's an update. So, we can only create subaccounts for sandbox courses. Not sure if that helps... as an admin I am not also a developer so I can't speak to the code, etc.

I think we have a similar situation -- the majority of our faculty are using Canvas... but there are some holdouts. They tend to be very "needy" and impatient and see themselves as not tech savvy, so they get frustrated easily and resentful of the technology... Sigh... Complicating matters is the large number of adjunct faculty and the constant churn in who's teaching / who's not teaching / who's been gone but now is back teaching / who's brand new to our school. By mentioning adjunct faculty I simply mean this (I appreciate and respect our adjunct faculty!): anyone paid a fixed amount to do a job that can be infinitely elastic has a strong incentive to keep to a limited number of hours of work. I.e., teaching, lesson planning, grading, etc., will consume as much time as you're willing to spend on it! most of our adjunct faculty have another job, plus one hopes a family\personal life... I have long suspected that even when we offer free trainings, in person/webinars/online, with free food and prizes (a variety of prizes even a drawing for iPads on occasion)... even after we're asked by a supervisor to offer a faculty training workshop... the real reason that we get zero to low attendance at our professional development trainings is simple: we don't pay our faculty to attend our trainings. Yes, we expect them to come and not get any compensation for their time... No money = "my time is not valued enough for me to be here, even if I am struggling with the technology." I've been advocating a flat "stipend" or "half-day" rate for attending a training. At some of our dozen campuses there are some supervisors who do pay faculty to attend certain trainings. Unsurprisingly, the turnout is always much higher... Perhaps my comment isn't quite to the point here, but there seems to be an overlap between the dismaying lack of attendance at any & all Canvas trainings we offer AND the population who most needs said trainings! It's only a small consolation that my supervisor says that every school she has worked at has the same problem: the school rarely pays faculty to attend trainings and then few people attend. We mostly get the same group of "technophiles" at our trainings who love learning more & more about Canvas...

I wish we were measuring success in more detail than we are- we rely on the metrics that come with Canvas but there are some aspects of those that just can't / don't answer more subtle or sophisticated questions... e.g., is a teacher just doing the minimum with Canvas or doing more?
