Yeah, but it should give you an option to rescale the grades. For instance, the Roll Call Attendance. If you forgot to change the point value from 100pts, there is no way to go back and "regrade." Yet, Canvas provides no way to rescale the grades. This is pretty fundamental part of an LMS. Another way in which Canvas is wholly inadequate. Go ahead and suggest that I submit this as a possible feature request through your completely broken and rigged feature request process.

Not sure why no one is being direct here, but the answer appears to be "No."
I also have a need for this, something that is easy in Moodle. Even, setting the point value of the essay question to zero doesn't help either, as it makes the quiz require manual grading.
Will Instructure consider adding this obvious and basic feature? Or allow you to say, use wildcards? Well, you could always take your chances with the Community Suggestion process which seems rigged to inevitably sideline your suggestion.

Okay, but why? Why isn't this a feature of a quiz? Why is the only answer that I have to use a totally different feature than a quiz?

The title of this suggestion does NOT capture the gist of what these commenters are suggesting. Instructure staff have hastily merged suggestions together that only vaguely relate to each other. This probably results in clearing their queue, but doesn't serve the Canvas community and the carefully argued community suggestion process. But unsurprisingly like any megalithic corporation that refers to its online forums as a "community," the truth is that they control what features are made available and the process for adopting them.

Beyond Text Headers (which are also important), Canvas needs a basic Rich Text module element which would give the list items in a module context.

External links are critical to the success of Canvas courses, links to slide lectures, links to articles and readings, and links to external resources. However, the handling of external links in Canvas is limited.
Currently, instructors can add an external link item to a modules, but they cannot duplicate a link item easily in another module. There is also no external links management page as there is with assignments, pages, quizzes, or files. Nor are links imported from .mbz files when importing from Moodle.
I propose that
External links be transformed into manipulable objects similar to (but much simpler than) assignments or pages,
A page to manage external links be added to the menu,
Additional optional information about each link be collected with them, and
User-created categories be created for external links, similar to assignments, to help organize links on the Links Page.
Link addition could look something like this:
The external link management page could look something like this:
Please consider my suggestion before whisking it off your ToDo list by merging it with another only vaguely related suggestion (as with my previous community contributions).

With all respect, making it a two-step process where I have to create another copy of the rubric FOR EACH ASSIGNMENT in order to have it calculate the grade is unacceptable.

This is so basic, I was shocked that it wasn't a feature in Canvas.
Currently the module is a design nightmare, presenting information as one big list/outline.
A rich text block in modules would allow instructors to create a week-by-week or day-by-day schedule that can feature essential course information and present assignments and links in context. Here's an example of a course with contextual rich text blocks:
And here is the approximate module in Canvas:
As a course designer and technical writer, this is painful requiring students to click on another page (something few likely ever do) to see what the course session has in store rather than being on a single page.
A rich text element would solve this issue allowing instructors to present information in context.

The open source LMS Moodle has an auto-link feature. Here is how it is described:
Auto-linking is a feature by which words or phrases used within a Moodle site are automatically linked to glossary or database entries, or activity and resources within the course with the same name.
This allows you to create a page like this one from my HTML/CSS class:
WEEK 16 - Pulling it all together
Objectives
Present the results of your work
Due
Final Project Presentations
Project Team Evaluation
Activity
Final Project Presentations
In which the links above that match course module items are automatically linked to those module items.
This is a good design principle. The module becomes a definitive repository of critical information for each course and reduces the possibility of links in pages falling out of date or breaking as the course is tweaked. Further, it reduces the work by beleaguered instructors.
In Moodle, the feature can be switched on or off for each course in settings.
