@maguire your idea to convert the text input box to txt before submitting to the server is a simple and functional workaround. or at the server-side, it can be converted. anyway its a must-have tool

Doesn't make sense this tool is not available yet. Please release it. With all the improvements Canvas has made recently it's a must-have for user experience the need to upload a word file is terrible...
