Would like to add a comment here to keep this long-standing feature idea/conversation going. While I appreciate what is currently available, there are still elements of the Peer Review tool that discourage our instructors from using it, specifically those who teach large enrollment courses. Being unable to grade the reviewer as part of the one assignment/process, specifically, requires workarounds that make this an even more complex, labor-intensive process for instructors and students, which is a shame because large courses could benefit the most from peer reviews as a pedagogical strategy.
As a community member noted in this comment dating back to 2015, peer reviews are a multi-layered process that should be considered from beginning to end, and I hope the Canvas Product team bundles this request with the others about peer review as part of a holistic approach to improving/extending the usefulness of this tool. The comment also lists requirements that are similar to ours, which would bring a lot of value to these large courses where instructors are actually trying to use high-impact practices to help students learn.

Adding a comment to support this idea. Providing instructors with the option to make the assignment description visible outside of the assignment availability dates would be appreciated and give instructors the flexibility of communicating assignment expectations and resources ahead of their availability.

We have another use case for hiding group membership from students that has FERPA implications. We are a large, R1 university where some classes have hundreds of student enrollments. A strategy for managing these courses in the LMS is to create groups based on section enrollments, giving students and TAs the ability to have a separate space outside of the main course site where they can communicate and collaborate within their smaller discussion sections, while still keeping one site for lecture assignments, communication, and grade management. Because students can see group enrollments, they are essentially able to see who is in which section, which is information that is supposed to be protected under FERPA. We'd rather not hide the People tool completely because it has other features that would be useful to keep. Even hiding group enrollments completely would be too restrictive, as it may benefit students to see group enrollments for other group activities or assignments in the course. In our case, I think creating an option to hide specific Group Sets would be especially helpful in the management and experience of a large enrollment course. Having this optional setting would allow us the flexibility of creating a Group Set that is just for mimicking section enrollments, which can then be hidden, while still allowing instructors to create other group sets for their course activities.

I support this feature idea because it allows users the flexibility to edit their own posts, while giving the instructor the ability to review a posts version history, in case there are concerns about academic integrity/honor code violations.
Right now, we must encourage faculty to enable a setting that prevents students from editing their own posts, but what if there is a reasonable need for a student to do so, especially in the context of a discussion forum where what we share will be available for others to read, which may require us to further edit and refine it.

I'd like to put in a request to add the name(s) of the group(s) that students are members of within a class, inside of their class profile (see first screenshot below). Sometimes, this information is helpful for faculty, especially when they've set groups to be self-assigned. Currently, they must go to the Groups tab and expand all groups to do a CTRL+f to search for students. This may be manageable (still tedious) for a small course with only a few groups, but for large-enrollment courses, this can be time-consuming in a way that defeats the administrative benefit of using an LMS for course administration. Canvas Admins can see a user's Group information under User Account Details, but Instructors do not have access to this. Again, in order for them to find which group a student is in, they have to look through each group's enrollment, which is especially tedious when there are multiple groups in a course.
