Rick— WOW! Thank you for such a thorough, well-thought out response! I really appreciate your feedback. You are right, it’s never really a good idea to compare one product to another—both have good points and bad points. I will say that being able to see which rubric is attached to which assignment and which DQ is convenient, though! I agree about editing the column order. I just need to accept that I need to rebuild our existing rubrics to Canvas’ framework. I most appreciate your explanation about why rubrics aren’t immediately visible to students for DQs. That was a terrific clarification, and I will share it with my fellow instructional designers. And finally, it was my mistake to say points should add up to 100. I shouldn’t have said that. I meant “whatever 100% is to the instructor”, but obviously I didn’t communicate well. Again, thank you so much for the valuable feedback! Lynn

The whole rubrics structure needs to be improved in Canvas. When I import a rubric in from Blackboard, I can't change the order of the columns. By default, Canvas goes from best to worst. Example: Proficient-->Competent-->Novice But if the import went from worst to best, there is no way to reorder the columns. Rubrics should be editable, even if they are connected to multiple assignments--at least until the first day of the course, or until the first assignment is turned in. When I have one rubric attached to thirty different discussion questions, I certainly do not want to delete the rubric and start over, then have to reattach!! In Blackboard, I could access an overview of all assignments and all discussion questions in one list, and see which rubrics were attached to what. If I accidentally missed attaching a rubric, I could immediately see it and attach it from the overview area. Very handy!! Currently, when I student is in a discussion post and wants to post their initial response, they cannot automatically see the attached rubric. They have to click the three dots in the upper right-hand corner and "Show Rubrics". The rubric should show up by default below the DQ. There should be clear instructions about points, range and criteria, which there currently is NOT. Users should be able to set up each criteria and assign each criteria points, the sum of which should equal 100. The range should be defined as from best to worst (or vice versa), and the range of points should equal the sum of the points for that criteria. Many changes are needed. 🔎 This idea has been archived. While this idea isn't open for comments, it is an important part of Instructure’s idea conversations and development process. Contributions like this are valuable as Instructure prioritizes work on new or existing features.

No, they were not imported from Blackboard or any LMS. They were created in Canvas.

@Chris_Hofer I noticed that the ones on bottom do not have a "last replied" memo like the others that have automatically reordered to the top. This is the problem, I'm sure, but I don't know how to fix it.

On the Instructional Video page, it would be helpful if I could see which videos I've already viewed. Even better, if I could bookmark the video with notes so I would know where to go back for further review.

I am motivated by the member badges, and although I like the esoteric nature of Agentic, Appreciative, Confident, Curious, Insightful, Significant, Unique and Courageous, I'd be more motivated by badges that reflect specific accomplishments, experience or training. These would be forward-facing so other members could see them. I'm definitely interested in an Accessibility best practices badge or something like that.

@Robbie_Grant Regarding your reply "The default Discussions area will order them from most recent activity to oldest." The discussions in my courses (multiple courses) are not re-ordering consistently. Some of the most recent activity moves to the top, but not all of them. I can't figure out what setting is causing this! It's frustrating my instructors. Please help!

Howdy, Tiffany! I enjoyed your Canvas-ability: Accessible Content in Canvas. In the closed captioning, I noticed the word "course" was spelled "coarse". I always recommend checking the cc to make sure it's accurate, so I thought I'd make that suggestion. Great job! Lynn

Screenshot of postsI am an Instructional Designer. I understand when discussion questions are set up, they automatically order in most recent activity on top. As students reply to the question, the most recent activity continues to move to the top of the list. As an instructor, when viewing in the Discussion Area, some of my students' active responses are moving to the top, as they should, but some are remaining at the bottom of the list. When I change to student view, the discussions that are not yet available to students disappear (as they should) but the active discussions still are not ordered by the most recent activity. A few still remain at the bottom, even though there has been more "activity" (responses) than those at the top. I'm sure it's a setting, but I can't find a difference in the ones that are responding properly and those that are not. I have consulted with our local AIhelp twice, and no one can find an answer.
