Problem statement: When instructors want to utilize a few videos together for a topic, trying to balance an appropriate size for the video and avoiding too much scrolling can be tricky sometimes. Proposed solution: Allow for the creation of video playlists in Canvas Studio so that multiple videos can be put together in a playlist and students can click through the videos in that playlist all in one spot instead of scrolling down a page. Problem statement: Students doing oral presentations are needing to submit both a file of their slides as well as a video of their presentation. Students can submit multiple files however we are pushing the use of Canvas Studio but they cannot upload a file and attach a Canvas Studio video. The options in this scenario are for them to put the public link from studio into their slides, complete two separate submissions, or for the instructor to create two separate assignments, one for slides and one for video. None of these workarounds are ideal considering we are pushing a Canvas product for them to use. Proposed solution: In the assignment submission area, allow for students to upload a file as well as attach a video from their Canvas Studio in one submission for an assignment. This will simplify the submission process for students who are needing to submit a file with their oral presentation. User role(s): designer

Problem statement: When utilizing the RCE icon maker icons, any time you use the icon after initially creating it, you have to re-enter the alt text or mark it as decorative every single time. In some courses, we use icons on weekly overview pages and end up re-using icons multiple times throughout a course and have to update the decorative image check box or input alt text every time. Proposed solution: Since the icons created are used in the same way each time, it would be helpful to have either the indication of an icon being decorative or the alt text stay attached to that icon so that anytime it is used, it is already associated with the icon. I am considering sharing some courses on Commons but they each have a few videos in Studio. I know that Studio content can't be shared through Commons but does anyone have a good way around that? I want to utilize Studio but also want to have these courses shared for other instructors in my institution. Thanks!

Hi @Allison_Ogrady I know this thread is old but I wanted to see if it would be possible to ask you a couple questions about your use of Dropout Detective at University of Denver. Were advisors monitoring their students across all of their courses? We have implemented DD in a way where advisors are able to see their students across all of their classes which required giving the advisors account level admin access (we created roles with basically no permissions). Did you have to do this with your implementation or were advisors not able to see across all classes? Has anyone tried this with Canvas Studio videos? I have had success using carousels with YouTube videos although tried to use a video that is in my Canvas studio account but the videos do not play, it shows the lock with access denied. I created a public link for the Canvas Studio video and included that link the same way I would have a YouTube video. Is there something I might be missing?

@chriscas Yes, exactly. That's why I'm suggesting that this feature be able to either know an image is decorative after indicating it the first time or keep the alt text attached to the image. There could also be a checkbox to indicate whether you want to keep the indication of decorative or alt text for other images attached to the image or not so that if you felt it was an image where it might change, you have the ability to.

When uploading an image into a course, can we have a way to keep the alt text with that image every time we use it (including when an image is marked decorative)?
If I am using images as icons, it would be nice to just have it automatically know that image is decorative. If I'm using an image in a few different places and put alt text in for it, it would be nice if that same alt text is assigned in any other location that image is used.
