The short answer is "no" you can't change the default from BBB in Conferences.   I hope this helps someone else!

Yep!  Keep this one going, we definitely need this feature.   Interesting that a couple of ideas that seem like huge needs have been around for many years.  

If this has been suggested, voted on since 2015, is there a reason why it hasn't gone any further?  I do think it's worth the conversation staying active.
