Yes we're using the cidilab version and the admin at the school probably decided not to include the options for the users to prevent confusion or problems down the road. I edited the entire course files for the html style and color tags and removed them entirely and that seems to have fixed the errors for now. But now I have only black texts on all my pages.

I decided to edit the entire course for the html tags specifying the styles and colors using notepad++ and find in files functionality in it. It basically removes all instances of the html tag in all of the files as long as you include the entire tags

Ok, I don't see that option dialogue box. It just has scan now and full rescan

I checked my course with the udoit accessibility checker, and it threw well over 1600 errors, many of them dealing with extremely trivial things like using "colors for emphasis" and recommended fix being bolding or italicizing the words. I can't be the only one dealing with this. Is there a patch, or some kind of batch fix for this? Or is there a setting I can use to change or ignore all errors of this type, or change the app to ignore it automatically? Or perhaps set it to make the changes automatically? (bold it, italicize it etc)

I'm not following how that will help the situation here. The problem arose, I think, because the quiz bank used the same questions for both practice and the actual exam. And even though the practice exam was only half as long, they were allowed to take it as many time as they want. That alleviates much of the test anxiety students experience. Downside was that there is this thing called autofill, which students may have found out about.

If you look at the reviews of the browser, it's not very flattering. A lot of students have problems with being locked out when they're not supposed to. That's my last resort. I guess I could give out paper exams, but some expressed anxiety issues with paper exams (being from the pandemic generation, they're used to online tests. some of them literally haven't been in the class for 3 years and haven't seen a paper exam ever since.) Another solution is giving the paper exam only to the students suspected of cheating. And the second to the last solution is rewriting the entire question banks for 20 chapters. (I would rather do this than force my students to use respondus.)

Hey everyone. I suspect some of my students are using autofill feature of web browsers or extensions, to create their own database of answers based on practice exams which have the exact same wording as the actual exam. When the prompts are the same, the autofill function will populate the answers they have entered previously. (like filling out your home address, etc on a form using a browser.) I've looked into respondus lockdown browser, but it appears it has to be downloaded on to students' computers, but many of my students use phones to take the exams. is there any other alternative to the lockdown broswer? (a possible solution to this problem is to reword the exam questions by adding a word or two which might throw off the autofill function.) Thanks for any thoughts. Sean

ok. that's what I thought. I was hoping for a bulk solution, but it seems doing it individually is the only way to go.

(see attached screencap under week 1) Are these scores counted towards the grade? if I click on any one of them, I see the grades they have. How do I make it so that the scores show up on the gradebook for myself and students?

I've decided use perusall. seems like that will help the students more. I have an article i'm making them read as a group and analyze the content. perusall will allow students to comment on specific passages.

I have to have a clean install of the phpBB board on a server somewhere, and then make the forum, and then create the embed codes, I've tried it with a few premade embeddable forums, but it seems canvas just deletes the entire code. it must not be allowed on canvas platform.

I see some related content on here about discussion forum being inadequate, but I don't see anyone trying out the phpBB which is an open source forum platform/software. It seems like all we need to do is make a module, create a page and then host the phpBB code on the page? But there is no how-to on such task. Does anyone know how have not done it because of the difficulties or was prohibited to do so on security reasons?

@Ron_Bowman It seems like they're taking two quizzes in a row that way: the regular quiz and the 0% quiz. I just made the extra hard question worth much less that the others. So even if they were to get it wrong, they can still get an A. In my case, 10 key terms questions are worth 0.08 points. 6 review points are 1.5 points and the extra hard question is worth 0.2 points. So if they were to get everything right except the hard question, they still get a 9.8 out of 10.

They all seem to suggest changing the points to 0 and then manually add the points upon inspecting the results. Or they suggest changing the rubric and then manually entering the fudge points. Is there a way to automatically change 1-2 questions into extra credit questions? So if they get it right, they get the points even if it exceed the total possible, but if they don't get it, they won't be penalized for it.

It turns out to be a complicated xml file format. Just in case you're wondering there seems to be free online converter like the one on http://ec2-34-207-154-191.compute-1.amazonaws.com/ I had another question about assigning fractional points to questions. Not sure if I should start another thread about it. I'd like to assign 0.2 point per definition type of questions. So answering 10 definitions will get them 5 points. Is that possible?

Ok Thank you. That format helps a lot. I wonder what the actual file format is. Once you have all the questions formatted, what type headers or footers or other things do you need in order to import that into the canvas as a quiz bank?

Or even in a few steps? Is there a phrase or a term for referring to such an action? It appears canvas uses QTI format which is xml based? Is there a way or a software tool to use this language to easily modify the text into a quiz bank to be imported? What might such a tool be? Any help is much appreciated.
