Bio:
Dr. Kavita Rani is serving as an Associate Professor and Head of the Department at Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda, Punjab. She has 20 years of experience in teaching and was previously involved as the IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University) program coordinator for the B.Ed. course. She has also developed various e-contents for the benefit of students.
She is passionate about the integration of technology in education and equipping future teachers with the knowledge of educational tools so that they can serve society in a better way. She has published three books and various research papers in reputed journals and conference proceedings. She is a member of the State Regional Sub Executive Committee of the Council for Teacher Education (CTE), Haryana State Chapter, the Indian Association of Teacher Education (AITE), and the All India Association for Educational Research (AIAER).
Her passion for advancing open and online education is evident in her work with UNESCO's OE4BW (Open Education for a Better World) program. She has developed four Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) under this program:Improving Assessment through Bloom’s Taxonomy and Rubrics, Basics of Gardening for Sustainable Health and Society, Educational Journalism in the Digital Era and Alternative Assessment Strategies in the 21st Century. These MOOCs demonstrate her commitment to expanding access to quality education on a global scale. Her remarkable contributions earned her an invitation to present her projects in Slovenia, showcasing her international recognition as an education innovator. In 2024, she was privileged to serve as a mentor for two projects in UNESCO's OE4BW program, furthering her impact on global education initiatives. Her participation in the OER Global Camp, a 48-hour festival for Open Educational Resources (OER), reflects her dedication to promoting open educational resources and fostering collaboration in the global education community.
In addition to her academic and research pursuits, she actively engages with the educational community by delivering talks to teachers, parents, and students in various institutions. A nature enthusiast, she loves gardening, which she considers a therapeutic and enriching practice that complements her professional life.
