Hi Bethan, Hope things are well? In our institution, anonymity would generally end once all marking is complete, rather than at an individual level. By having Gradebook history 'leaking' the students name, it'd be relatively easy for someone to switch between the 2 tools and start to identify the student, potentially whilst marking was still underway. Best wishes, Greg

Thanks Sidh. Just to say if something like the assignment creator could be added as an interim step that would be very much appreciated - at the moment this is starting to create a consider support overhead within the institution as global admins are now being asked to make the edits by staff.

Limited testing performed, but looks much more promising. Thanks for the swift response.

Hi Sidh, Many thanks for the reply. I can see where you're coming from, but the 'Final Grader' is likely to not be part of the core module team, and such therefore never likely to make amendments to an Assignments. I'd personally like to see the Edits remain as they were - not sure how the rest of the community feel, but I think that'd be the most practical solution. At very worst case, I'd expect the creator of the Assignment to have edit rights over it, but that could cause further issues (i.e. if they were to leave the institution, go on long term absence, etc...). Best wishes, Greg

Hi erinhallmark I'm afraid we've just enabled this on Live, and the DocViewer annotations are not being maintained. I've just raised a Support Ticket (#03541167). Updated - It appears to only happen when you've only selected 'Graders cannot view student names' on its own. If you use Moderated Marking (with or without 'Graders cannot view student names' then it appears to work. Update 2 - With further testing, we've managed to isolate this down to Anonymous Grading and Muted. Leave an annotation, move to the next submission and return - annotations are not present. When you unmuted, all annotations are shown again. Also, if you unmute the Assignment, it works as expected. Sadly if you re-mute, it goes back to the 'broken' state. Had confirmed by multiple users across multiple assignments now. Best wishes, Greg

Thanks Erin. Unfortunately I'm not sure that's the behaviour we'd expect. The final grader is unlikely to be part of the management cycle for the assignment - any chance this could be reconsidered? Or tied to a permission and role? Best wishes Greg

Hi, Regarding AMM workflows, we're seeing when a 'final grader' has been selected that is the only person who can then subsequently edit the assignment once its published . Is this expected behaviour? Its not what we would expect to happen? Best wishes, Greg

AMM - Moderation Screen (in 'Hide Student Names' setting) Hi all, Thanks for the hard work in this release. When having a moderation assignment, that is hiding student names, the Moderation Summary page shows different student numbers to those used in Speedgrader. E.g. when in the Moderation Screen (Assignment->Moderate), we have a case when the link for Student 15 is clicked, Speedgrader shows the correct submission, marks and feedback but in the top right of Speedgrader the student is Student 8. We think this could just cause confusion for staff, especially those recording their moderation sample in external systems - which number would they record! Can it not just be consistent across facilities? Best wishes, Greg PS. There is also a support ticket, with URLs to an example case of this (#03493648)

Hi, Just to confirm we've checked our settings in Beta and can confirm we've lost annotations. We haven't enabled in Live, and as such annotations are still there - but we're very concerned about someone accidently enabling. We've contact Canvas Support #03274982). Cheers, Greg

Thanks @soberoi - and sorry, reading back now I can see how my request isn't very clear! We've not problems with retrieving all the student submissions - what we'd like to do is display a clickable link to take them to that submission in Speedgrader so they can start marking. We have this working in the 'traditional' assignments world, but notice it doesn't work when the New Anon Marking is switched on. Any tips? Heading to Colorado tomorrow, so happy to try and speak to you at InstructureCon next week if that helps?

Thanks for the updates @soberoi - much appreciated. Not sure the workflow for 'Determine Final Grade' is what is required, but perhaps we need to discuss that as a UK Community and document something @natalie_norton1 ? Also, anyone I can speak to about the API to take an application to a specific submission?

Thanks Chris - can confirm it didn't work on another Course/Module where the AMM flags are not enabled, so suspect this is more to do with the configuration of the tools on Beta.

Hi all, Just to echo other feedback, thank you for the developments in this area. Overall we feel they're great strides forward. Of course during testing we have discovered some things that are probably worth highlighting - apologies if they've been covered already, and let me know if they need to go to an alternative forum / mechanism! Integration with Plagiarism Detection Framework - its not possible to create an Assignment with a 3rd Party Plagiarism tool selected. I think this has been previously noted, but its not listed in the current known issues. Is there an indicative timescale for this to be rectified? Old Gradebook - Assignment Groupings - If you use Assignment Groups, and only place a single assignment under that group, whilst the mark awarded to the student is hidden under the assignment, the score for the overall grouping is shown, making it relatively simple to identify the student. Old Gradebook - Export CSV - This shows the student names and IDs. We're not overly concerned about this, but thought the wider community may wish to know. Anonymous Instructor Annotations - When this is the only option selected on the Assignment creation page, it doesn't appear to hide or anonymous anything? Moderation / Double Blind Marking Workflows - If the grader who 'Determines Final Grade' is also one of the markers, then they get to see the Speedgrader Comments from the other markers. Analytics - Shows the mark awarded to individual students, regardless of the anonymous state. Again, not overly concerned about this, but the wider community may like to be aware. New Gradebook - Message Students Who - Clearly shows the student name and the marker awarded - another way to identify students. Once again, not overly concerned, but the wider community may like to be aware. Finally, is there a way to get to the student specific submission in Anonymous Mode using the APIs - we've got some custom functionality where we'd like to drop someone to a specific submission? Any advice would be gratefully received.

Just to agree with Natalie's comments above - I think the audit trail is sufficient for our needs. I don't recall it having a note for the reason, but this is something that we would welcome - it mirrors some existing functionality we currently have.

Hi Erin, Thanks for the update - just to echo Richard's comments - we're starting to be made aware of issues in this area by staff who are currently marking, and as such we're trying to figure out a communications plan, and potential workarounds, at this stage. So any clarity around timescales would be really appreciated? This is a critical point in the assessment cycle for us and so all very concerning. Best wishes, Greg

This idea has been developed and deployed to Android Hi, The Speedgrader feature in the Teacher app doesn't allow for the editing or deleting of comments made (NB. This the text / audio / visual comments, not annotations). The user is required to head over to the desktop version to amend / remove any comments made. It'd be great if all this could be done via the tablet applications. Best wishes, Greg Comments from Instructure For more information, please read through the Canvas Teacher Release Notes (Android 1.6) .
