It got solved!! A combination of toggling the high contrast setting on and off in both Canvas and the Mac settings on my laptop. Also got got rid of most extensions. Don't know what did it but it work...

Dear @crafte ,   Thank you! This worked. I changed the heading on the page and now when it opens as the Front page it has two headings but different ones but still related to the course. So helpful!  

I can't tell which page I am looking at. How do I get rid of two and keep the one I want? or edit the address? Here are the three URL's-- If I click on the HOME link in the left menu I am directed to ...
