Hi, @shogher84 Thanks for posting. Was the badge perhaps awarded to a different email address than the one you created your account with? You can add additional email addresses or case variants from your profile menu. Also, the badge will appear in a user's backpack if they are both on the same server. So, if a badge was awarded from the US server, it will automatically appear in a US backpack. If you are using an EU backpack for instance, you'll need to import it into your backpack on that server. If you continue to have trouble you can test your badge and recipient information at https://badgecheck.io. You can also contact support@badgr.com for help.

Hi, @bergman_kathlee If you are earning badges via Canvas, Badgr only sends an email upon the first time a recipient receives an award. This is to inform recipients of their data rights. Badges awarded outside of Canvas may optionally get an email notification. This is controlled by the Issuing organization. Some schools, colleges or universities have tighter spam filters so it may be that your notification got blocked somewhere along the delivery chain. If you received badges awarded from the US server, you can sign in to your Badgr account and you will see all the badges you've earned in the backpack section. Let us know if you have additional questions.

Hi @jryter1 - If I understand your comment correctly, you can use Canvas' flexible module requirements to achieve this goal.

Thanks, @GideonWilliams and nice to meet you @jcremin ! Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. Your idea to post course content to the commons sounds wonderful. If I understand your question correctly, then YES! You can share your issuer by adding other's email addresses to the issuer and then they can, in turn, award the badges either through Canvas or the Badgr website. You would need some method of collecting their email addresses. In Canvas however, the instructors would still need to install the app, select the default issuer, and assign the badges to modules. The other approach could be to have a spreadsheet of the badge images and metadata that could be downloaded with your course content, and then the instructors could make their own issuer and badge versions. Either way sounds like an interesting way to provide content and get people engaged. Good luck! Kim

Thanks for the shout-out @Bobby2 ! Hello @sus_taylor25 , Thanks for posing the question! Badgr only awards badges in Canvas based on module completion activities. So, yes only 1 badge per module. You can create a free Badgr account and award badges manually or in bulk via CSV upload if you want to try that route. Just keep in mind that badges awarded from the website are not displayed in Canvas courses unless you have a Badgr Pro subscription. Feel free to contact support@badgr.com if you have other questions about badging. Cheers!

Hi there, We've also encountered this error message when self-hosted Canvas instances attempt to connect to Badgr. We've narrowed it down to an incorrectly entered developer key or secret or that Redis had not been installed. I am curious to hear more about how others have encountered or resolved this issue. Thank you!

Hi @quan_nguyen1 , While you can view badges earned in Canvas from your backpack, you can't necessarily see all your backpack badges in Canvas if they have been awarded externally. We do have some features that touch upon what you are looking for within Badgr Pro. Badgr Pro for Canvas: Tracking externally awarded badges You can also use our optional XML at the root level to enable the ability for Canvas users to see their own badges from their account. (Note: you can find the code at the bottom of this troubleshooting article.) https://support.badgr.com/portal/kb/articles/troubleshooting-authentication-failed

We have a permissions issue with one of our Badgr users where the teacher is awarding badges to students based on module completion requirements. Unfortunately, the badges are being awarded to hashed identifiers instead of to the student's email address. This defeats the purpose of portable badges. Is there a permissions setting at the account or course level that is preventing this? It does not appear to be Read SIS Data permission setting, the teacher can view student emails. Any ideas?

Badgr, one of the badging platforms available to Canvas, has functionality that lets you "revoke" a badge if necessary.

Badgr is a platform that uses Open Badges and can be integrated with Canvas in less than 5 minutes. Since it uses Open Badges, you can issue badges outside of Canvas using the same (or different) issuer. We also offer backpack features, like Mozilla Backpack. Within Canvas, Badgr does automatic badge awards based on module completion, but we've seen a lot of instructors get creative with the way they set things up. With the new Canvas release of MasteryPaths, there may be greater flexibility (I have not yet checked out the functionality). I'd be happy to give you a demo and show you how Badgr works if you'd like. We are a Canvas preferred partner and are regularly releasing new feature updates.
