That's how the quiz_submission_historical_dim works for us too. It retains the timestamp for the kept attempt only. You can get the timestamps for each attempt by downloading the Student Analysis csv from Quiz Statistics but you can only do that one quiz at a time.

The posts would still exist in the data tables if you were able to query those and of course if the message was correctly posted in the first place.

Submissions data for New Quizzes don't appear in the quiz submission dim or are exportable from the UI in the way the original quizzes were. The FAQ only says that an API will be created one day. Does anyone know if there's a way to download all New Quiz submissions? Thanks, DHB

I'm a Canvas admin and it'd be useful to be able to find out from the Canvas data tables which assignments use a rubric (i.e. had a rubric linked to it in the LMS). If the assignment fact table had a rubric_id which could join to a rubric dim that would be perfect.

I don't have sufficient privileges to open that link anymore either. It was an old post and I've done a lot more since. Basically, we're saving the canvas flat files in an Oracle database. I query that using Alteryx to produce csv files which I upload to PBUI for visualisation. I can't offer much in the way of advice regarding database management but I've been querying and visualising Canvas data for four years so may be able to help in that regard.

I use Canvas flat file data for all manner of reporting within our institution. I've recently been looking into student groups and one thing I'd like to know is who created the groups. It'd be good to know which groups were created by teaching staff and which ones students were creating for themselves. I would think a USER_ID field for the group creator in the GROUP_FACT table would suit this purpose well.

Hi Oxana, I work alongside Stuart and am primarily looking at who is/isn't logging in to their courses and what resources they're accessing. Log ins are used as a measure of student engagement (% of days logged in either total or week by week) and also to identify good times to message students. Looking at where they navigate to is useful for things like the report I'm running now which is evaluating uptake of an LTI we built. Best, Daniel

Not a question so much as an issue I'd like to raise. When I looked at weekly activity and selected a particular week the student data was filtered to that week but the resource use data remained the same (i.e. total amounts). Perhaps my misuse of the tool. If that inconsistency could be addressed that would be very helpful. As well as wanting to know what students are using I'd like to know when they're using it. I have a request/suggestion.. ASSIGNMENT_DIM has a VISIBILITY field which tells me whether the original version of an assignment is valid to any users following an override or if only the override applies. Practice quizzes (no ASSIGNMENT_ID) can also be overridden yet the QUIZ_DIM doesn’t have the same field so while I can see some users have an override I don’t know whether other users also have access to the quiz. Would it be possible to add a VISIBILITY field to the QUIZ_DIM?

Hi Sydney, I'm using a LIKE %Q&A% query and that will get the majority of them. Sometimes instructors will change it to Q & A by putting spaces in, so these get missed. I also scoop up unwanted discussions like 'Assignment 1 Q&A'. It seems the only way to perfect this would be to lock the titles using the Blueprint course feature.

I’ve been trying to separate the ‘Course Q&A Discussion Forum’ discussions from the others by using DISCUSSION_TOPIC_TITLE in the DISCUSSION_TOPIC_DIM. This works in the majority of cases but sometimes an instructor will modify the discussion title (e.g. ‘Maths-101 Q&A’ or ‘Course Q & A Discussion Forum’) and these don’t get picked up. I’m not sure there is a solution to this beyond locking the title so it can’t be changed (not possible). In the absence of that, does anyone know of a way to get all of these discussions? Hi Sydney, for the Login Time heat maps you mention that you export a data column called 'LOGIN_TIME' but I can't find this in the Schema Doc (v.1.17.2). Do you take the minimum timestamp for each session_id in requests to create this? Best, Daniel.

Hi James, I found the same as you. Where participation is a decimal in the individual access report the correction works but otherwise not. So it does appear to be a bug within Canvas.

I looked into this a little more and found this today. As you can see with this student in the same course, the correction applies to the first two but none of the others. All of these have the Group Code “quizzes”. Some of them were corrected for the student above but not here. In both, once the correction stops working it doesn’t restart. Hi James, I don't know where to look up the asset_group_code for these (can you advise?) but I can see that Lecture Test 1 Multiple Choice (not corrected) and Lecture Test 2 Multiple Choice (corrected) are both assignment quizzes in Canvas.

I had a quick query about the Access report. I've noticed a difference between an individual Access Report on Canvas and the access shown for the same user in the Course Access Report from Tampermonkey. All of the rows without participations tally perfectly, however those with participations look like this...
