Edit Solution found: High Contrast UI setting was activated and that "toned" the colors down. When turned off the colors setting stays. @chriscas Thank you for helping me on this 🙂

The screenshot was from my PC. I do use dark mode on my phone and tablet, but even after switching the dark mode off, it still would not save my Hex colors
