The browser search function only works if the word is visible on the screen. It doesn't show words that are in the body of the message not displayed on the screen. What kind of software designer would think that no one would need to search their messages? ... View more

Fantastic. Coincidentally, I was having a Zoom conference today with one of our university's instructional support staff and I asked how best to organize my dozens of Studio videos since they didn't have folders to help with organization. Booo Canvas. Why in the world would you remove the ability to message from the People page? Why, why, why? I instinctively go here regularly thinking I can message the person. Grrrrr. Everytime I try to do something on Canvas I get irritated because of common sense things like this. ... View more

I had the same question, and it seems that creating a page for each embedded video is the key. On the page, you can add text or other diagrams (if you'd like) while taking advantage of all the other features of an embedded video. PLUS, you can link to the pages in your list to maintain that format. But, it sure would be nice to be able to *group* related pages for my own personal management (when you view all pages). For example, I'd like to put all my video pages in a group separate from other types of pages. For now, I've found it useful to name my pages starting with a key phrase, which will sort alphabetically in the long list of pages. For example, my video pages are all named "Video: generic name of video". That way, all the pages that start with "Video:" group together near the bottom of the list. ... View more

I agree with Seth. Online voting is a lazy way for Instructure to get feedback (I hope they are also using other approaches also, but I don't see evidence of it). I just wanted to say that I'm very sad that this feature hasn't been implemented yet....and appears to not be on the plan for implementation. The clunkiness of having to upload to a directory then select the uploaded file wastes a lot of my time and makes it very unlikely that I'll post images that would otherwise help students. ... Canvas doesn't seem very responsive to their user's needs. I had heard otherwise, but I'm seeing evidence to the contrary. I also once used Schoology and used this option A LOT for various reasons. Please give the instructor control over their courses. Is that too much to ask??? ... View more
