Regarding the Submission Reassignments feature:
This feature seems quite limited as it is, as the only way a student can really see the request for resubmission (if it’s not made explicit in the feedback comments) is by switching to the Dashboard’s list view. We would be much more likely to encourage faculty to use this feature if reassigning an assignment actually put it back on a student’s To Do list, which is visible from the Dashboard’s (default) card view.
There is currently no way for an instructor to “un-reassign” an assignment if they click the Reassign Assignment button accidentally. We’d like this ability to be added since there isn’t even a confirmation window after clicking the button.
We’d like to know more about how this feature works with notifications. Can students receive a notification when a resubmission is requested? Can instructors receive notifications when a student has resubmitted an assignment that specifically reminds the instructor that they reassigned the assignment?
Can this feature be enabled for assignments without due dates, particularly if #1 is addressed? We have a lot of self-paced courses that had assignments without due dates, and instructors would love if students could get a To Do reminder to resubmit work.

I'm the LMS Admin for a set of online-only programs that serve about 10,000 students through the University of Wisconsin, and I again got a request for this. We love that Canvas now supports course-level notifications, but the most glaring absence has been any notification of when a new student is enrolled. This is particularly important for our non-term courses where students can enroll at any time. One of our Program Managers described this use case to me: "students can add courses whenever they want in a term, but faculty don’t always know if a student adds the course say 2 months into the 3 month subscription period." We're investigating options to send notifications from our SIS, but a notification option in Canvas would be ideal.

I work with a team of instructional designers who again requested this feature now that the Pretty HTML Editor (https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Releases/Canvas-Release-Notes-2021-02-20/ta-p/434781/page/2/show-comments/true#toc-hId--1729163854) has been released. We really like the more readable HTML, but searching for the exact part that needs editing can be tedious when switching between Rich Text and HTML views.

We serve ~3000 students in fully online, self-paced programs. We discovered this flaw only recently and are getting reports that faculty are very, very frustrated. Many of them take time to offer detailed feedback on submissions, and expect students to consult that feedback as they resubmit work. In a self-paced program, multiple resubmissions are not uncommon. It seems odd to me that this is a feature request that has been hanging out for four years, as opposed to built-in functionality.

Thank you for this clarification, stefaniesanders. Very helpful. I'd still like to keep pushing for this as an enhancement idea, though, because it's a bit cumbersome for faculty to leave SpeedGrader and go to the gradebook just to edit a comment.

To second what @nblair321 @lbarrier8948 are saying, we recently switched from Brightspace (D2L) to Canvas and have found several instructors very frustrated with the inability to edit comments. I'm an instructional designer, and several of my colleagues have had to explain to faculty the workaround: copying the original feedback, pasting it into a new comment, editing, re-posting, and deleting the old comment. They feel this is unnecessarily complicated given they could directly edit comments in Brightspace. I'm hoping this issue will get more traction.
