Thank you so much for the response and sharing your file! Much appreciated! 😊 Yes, I am aware that this can be done on Excel, but I was just hoping there was a way that this calculation can be set up on Canvas Gradebook so that there are fewer steps for the instructor.

Is there a way to calculate a weighted average grade for first and revised drafts, say for example in a composition course? Here's the scenario: a student turns in a paper, then decides to submit a revision after receiving feedback. The instructor grades both papers. The "final" grade will then be calculated as such: 30% from the first draft, and 70% from the revised paper. I was just wondering if there was a way to set this up on gradebook, or if I will have to do this outside of Canvas (say, Excel), then enter the scores manually.

I just discovered that there the "current course grade" in Analytics doesn't match up with the total grade as it appears on Gradebook. I also noticed that a student who was added to the class after the start date is missing from Analytics even if the Gradebook roster has been updated. Can anyone explain what is going on? Is this simply a delay in updating the data in Analytics?

I was wondering if it was possible to mark more than one student as excused for an assignment. Any suggestions would be most appreciated! (Context: I recently had a technical issue with the publisher tool which made me decide to cancel some assignments. Unfortunately, some students had already done all the assignments, so I could no longer unpublish them. The easiest fix I could think of was to excuse students who had not done them yet. We're talking about 10-15 assignments in total, and I would have to excuse each assignment PER STUDENT which I am finding to be extremely tedious and time confusing! To be able to mark more than one student as excused in a few clicks would be tremendously helpful.)

I couldn't seem to find an existing discussion on this issue, so here goes... Is there any way I can grade submissions according to the order in which they were submitted (i.e., date and time). This isn't really a big issue for me, but I've always wondered if I could do this.

I have most of my assignments set up for automatic late penalties, so that if a student submits an assignment, quiz, or discussion post late, there is a corresponding late penalty. However, I have some assignments where I allow students to resubmit work for a better grade as these are meant for practice rather than immediate mastery. What I have tried doing in the past is removing the due date so that the late penalties don't apply, but I've noticed that the due dates help in reminding students that they have work to do. So I keep the due date, but I end up manually removing late penalties for every student that resubmits their work, which I find incredibly tedious. Does anyone have an idea on how I can make this easier on myself?
