@SamanthaFisher sorry for delay in replying we did get the Teams meeting LTI installed in the end...thank you for the help. Regarding the issue highlighted by @EveWhitelaw we too have noted the issue about meetings scheduled in the new LTI not being recorded in the canvas calendar and will follow this query with interest. Also, we have noted that, when reviewing the scheduled meetings within a canvas course (agenda view accessed by the Teams Meeting menu item) the chronologically latest meeting (i.e. not necessarily the last meeting to be created) does not appear. I do have a ticket open about this and will update with any progress, but I am interested to know if this is just me or is it affecting other people too?

Hi @SamanthaFisher is it released now? If so is there a revised client ID / any documentation or guidance for admins. Client ID ending 703 is disabled in production.

This looks like a viable solution too, similar to the way similar situations are handled in Moodle. I suggested the "message students who option" because I thought it would be simpler to implement. It is a solution based around existing tools, in other words. However, it may be that creating a permission of the sort that you propose would be as straightforward and would remove the need for a provisional mark to be entered (as the basis for a message students who filter).

The issue: Anonymous grading is an important option that provides students with reassurance that the grading of their work was not effected by unconscious or conscious bias. However, there are times when administrators need to be able to identify the authors of specific submissions and this is currently only possible by exploiting a loophole in the way that anonymity is implemented in the Gradebook. We assume that this loophole will be closed in time and the interventions that I am referring to here play an important part in our duty of care to students. Use case: Examples of situations when the need to identify the author of an anonymous submission include: cases where poor academic practice or plagiarism are suspected and cases where students who have missed the due date for an assignment. Idea: The current "Message Student Who..." feature reveals the identities of students who meet defined criteria (e.g. "have not submitted" or "have scored less than..."). This could be used to identify the author of a submission in all the situations that we have encountered so far, but is not available (greyed out) on anonymous assessments. I would propose that a permission be created that could be assigned to an administrator and would allow the designated role holder(s) to access the message students who feature on anonymous assessments.

This has been a persistent problem for us too, and I believe that Canvas are working on this. Last year the ability to "message students who..." was turned off (with the depreciation of the classic gradebook) and this has left us in a bit of a quandary. We would like anonymous marking to be implemented more robustly, by ensuring that grades assigned to anonymous assignments are not calculated in assignment group totals. However, we would at that point lose the only method we have for identifying students who are either suspected of poor academic practice (and need to be contacted so that alleged plagiarism can be investigated) or have missed the due date for an assignment (so that they can be contacted and reminded of the late submission date). These may sound like quite "minor" issues compared to the bigger picture of anonymous grading. However, they reflect legal requirements in the first instance and play an important role in our duty of care to students in the second. While we are on this subject another issue that compromises anonymity, or did last time I checked, is that if you re-upload scripts to speedgrader the student names are revealed at that point. Just a fun fact.

Agreed, it does not recognise urls or links to documents etc, This limits the utility of the tool I feel. It does not make any linked or embedded content more accessible and it does not assist if the page contains navigation. In fact, because of the way text is rendered and chunked it can break up links but maybe I am missing the purpose of the tool. We have a wider set of concerns about the accessibility of canvas pages, particularly those containing tables so perhaps I am hoping for too much
