Hello
As an instructor of a language course with a lot of assignments, the format of having the names of the students show up on the main screen and the title of the assignment as well was much better for me. I noticed that this has changed recently which was a bit frustrating.
I realize I only have to click on the show students names to get the list but that is one extra step. Not sure why that has been installed.
Also one student said she did not know which assignment I was talking about and since I do not know what the message looks like at their end, I cannot tell if the message has the assignment title in it automatically anymore or if I need to add it now.

Instructure's Product Team acknowledges that this idea was not completed in its entirety as there are technically two requests within this single thread. This idea is being marked as In Beta to address the automatization of the subject line. There are no plans to change the workflow that includes the checkbox to show the list of students' names.

Since we have gone fully online with our classes and even embedded our textbook into Canvas, I found that a number of students have valid reasons for turning things in late. I have hundreds of assignments that are graded.
Currently, I have to go into the gradbook for each assignment for each student that has a valid excuse and say it is not late to remove the late penalty. This is laborious. It would be great to be able to go into the Gradebook and waive the late penalty for certain students for entire sections of work instead of each individual assignment.

As an instructor and also as a student taking a class on Humanizing Technology, I also would love to have some type of notification that a chat has been added because sometimes I do not see them until days later when I arbitrarily open up the Chat link.
Maybe a popup number next to the chat link like the inbox has at least to know someone has added a chat. Or perhaps a number to show how many others in the class are online. Some of the activities I assign include student to student interation and this would help them contact each other on the Canvas page directly. Otherwise my Chat just sits there unattended and alone.
