We have noticed the same thing in the iPad Canvas app and have found these two work arounds that will allow the students to use speak selection. It was working fine before OS15. Once we updated the iPad to OS15 and higher speak selection stopped working inside the iPad Canvas App. We have tested it on iPads running OS15+ and OS16.1 It appears this issue is only happening when utilizing the actual iPad Canvas App and works fine when logged into Canvas in Safari. The first and easiest solution is to log into Canvas in Safari. As long as the Speak Selection function is toggled "on" in the iPad settings it will work.   If you want to use speak selection in the iPad Canvas App follow the steps below.   1. Completely close the Canvas App (you do not need to log out of the app)   2. Go to the iPad settings > Accessibility >Spoken Content and toggle the Speak Selection tool OFF.   3. Open the iPad Canvas app back up and the Speak Selection Tool will work.   So, In essence, for the iPad Canvas app, it seems like it's working backwards. I just installed this LTI in our Canvas Instance.  We are rostering STEMscopes through Classlink. I had to contact STEMscopes support to get directions for the installation.  There were 2 different things I had to do inside STEMscopes. Now they are working on matching fields between the two programs.  I am waiting to hear back on next steps.  This LTI integration has not been as easy as others. ... View more

Ah, I miss understood.  Yes that is an issue with us as well.  The long list of assignments.  It would be helpful if assignments would drop off the list if the student has turned in their work already although then that would cause a problem if the student needed to resubmit work.  ... View more

I have been training our teachers to use modules for this very reason.  In modules you can organize the assignments but easier. Inside the modules you can add text headers, assignments, quizzes, discussion etc. and have them all in one place organized how you want it.  This modules overview might help.    ... View more

This was a very informative overview of the apps.  I LOVED the history lesson on how the current app evolved.  The Mobile Design tips were very helpful.  Being in a  K12 1 to 1 district with iPads, all our student use the Student App for iOS.  I think it is SO important that teachers think about the layout of their course and how the students will see it.  I feel like chunking the content is one of the most important parts in designing a course.  We just started using Canvas this year across the entire district i really hadn't looked or thought about requirement until now.Thank you for pointing out that requirements will help the students see where they left off in the course.  I think this could be very helpful to the students even if they are getting face to face instruction as well. My district is 1 to 1 iPads grades K-12.  We recently moved to Canvas as our LMS and I am looking forward to communicating and learning from others in this group.  Our students are using the iOS student app along and our teachers are using the iOS teacher app for grading and the computer for designing their course.  This will be a great resource for me as I help teach, guide, and implement Canvas across the district.   ...
