For your incompletes, do you keep the "Missing" dashes in the gradebook or do you add zeros to the missing assignments?   We add sections to the original course the student was in and open it up for the student and the instructor. There is just debate about adding zeros or dashes in the Canvas gradebook until the missing work is completed.  Canvas holds the unoffical grades whereas our SIS program in the registrar's office holds the Offical grade. We use scripts to pull grades from Canvas to the SIS program and the registrar's office changes the student status to "incomplete" because there is not an incomplete status in Canvas.   Just wondering what other institutions do? ... Another way to accomplish this: There is no direct way to open modules for one student when they are locked.  You could unlock the module for all students. The content would be available to everyone, but you could open the assignment/discussion/quiz for the one student before it is opened for all the other students.   Click add at the bottom of the assignment/discussion/quiz edit page.  Add the one student while leaving the Everyone Else there. Then setup the one student to take the assignment/discussion/quiz earlier than Everyone Else.       ... View more

@Stef_retired Thank you so much for adding this to Beta.  I have one question about this change.  Will admin still have the ability to change the dates in individual courses so that we can open individual courses up outside of the term dates?  We need to be able to open some courses for individuals to work on incompletes after the end of the course. In the 3-20-2021 Release notes, there is an enhancement to the Course availability date on the Course Setting page.  While this won't present a huge problem for us because we have not used code to turn this date off for our instructors, I agree with other institutions that there should be a way to turn this off in permissions somewhere.  Our institutional policy is that the courses close to all students and faculty at the end of each Term. We control those dates on the TERMS page in Canvas. But it is overridden by instructors continuously even though we ask them not  to change these dates in the setting page. Even when they don't click the box below the dates that says: "Students can only participate in the course between these dates. When selected, the course is in a read-only state outside these dates." The dates in the field affect course access for students. Please help us maintain control over the access to these courses without us having to check through the courses to make sure the dates have not been over-ridden.   ... View more

Can the COMMENTS option be set to off as default? or allow our admin to set the default for this? We are always having to turn it off because we hardly ever use the comments to the videos. ... View more

I have found a work around accidentally. These videos are saved to your local computer first before they are uploaded to Canvas Studio. Any videos that you have "lost" are still there.  You have to be on the computer that you recorded them on for this to work. You have to go to Studio. Click RECORD Click SCREEN CAPTURE Click RECORD and record a few seconds of video Click PAUSE Click DONE at this screen you will see BACK TO RECORDINGS at the top left corner of this window. Click there. Voilà, you have found every file you "lost". You are able to click on the video and upload it from here.   Your welcome!!!  ... View more
