I agree that this would be a helpful option! We are a study abroad org, so we want to our students to have the correct time zones of where they will be studying. Instead, it defaults to our time zone and then they have to update it. And as many times as we tell them to do this, some don't, and then they miss deadlines or other calendar things.

Can anyone clarify the necessity for using grading periods? I am a Canvas Admin. Although we use limited terms (Fall, Spring, Summer, etc.), our courses all start and end at different dates - some fall courses start in August, others in late September - and end at different dates. Grades for our instructors are due in Canvas two weeks after the course end date. And none of our courses run over the course of two semesters. Since we need the term to be all inclusive of these courses, we set the term to start early enough for the first class and late enough for the last class. But do we need a grading period in addition to the term? I understand that it limits when teachers can add grades, but doesn't really make sense for our usage, since it may be 3 weeks after their grades were already due. Is there any reason that we absolutely *need* to use grading periods?

FYI in case anyone else has this issue. Here is what we ended up doing: Sub-Account Admins are given certain admin privileges' on the Sub-Accounts Level, however this cannot include the Act-as-User or the Student View permission. We then create an Account Level Administrative Role called "Act-As-User" Role and assign it to them. This is the only permission under this role. Then the Sub-account admins can find an instructor that is teaching for one of their courses, use the act-as-user feature to pretend to be them in the course, and then use the "student view" feature. This is a reallllll workaround and it would be great if sub-accounts admins could just have the Student View feature added to their permission possibilities.

We are using Canvas for all course grading but not all course administration, and I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this. Basically we want enrollment and grading to be done through Canvas, but do not necessarily want to publish the courses or have students see their grades in Canvas. What I have found is that courses need to be published in order for teachers to input grades and students need to accept the course invitation in order for us to export the grades. However, since the course administration is not happening in Canvas, it makes it weird to ask students to accept their course invitations for courses they aren't really participating in virtually. Has anyone else found a work-around for using Canvas to collect grades from professors, but not have the courses or the grades be visible to students?

I'm trying to log into my Beta and Test instances, but the MFA codes are not being pushed to my cell. I tried using the back-up codes logged within my Canvas profile, but those didn't work. Then I added Canvas to my Authenticator app so codes could be entered without being pushed to my phone, but those also didn't work... Anyone else having this issue?

I realized today that some of our Sub-Account Admins to not have the options of "Student View" unless they are added as a teacher to the specific course. I checked the permissions and cannot find one that seems like we have turned that off as an option for Sub-Account Admins, nor does it seem like one that is turned on for teachers. Since our Sub-Account Admins act as in a supporting role to instructors, it would be great if they could have this option. Has anyone else had this issue? Or found a work-around?
