Please!! Removing the missing status right now is a MASSIVE pain!
I have my students turn in their notes at the end of each chapter and I set all of my assignments up as "file submission" because I like giving them the option to submit pictures so they can keep their packet the whole time but most of my students prefer to just turn it in on paper rather than take pictures of all the pages. Now I'm having to manually change 100s of scores to remove the "missing" status. It wastes so much of my time. 😞
(Because I know what a pain it is, I even shared a file with my students that was just an image that says "turned in on paper" and told them to submit it to Canvas so that their assignments aren't marked missing but only one or two students actually do that)

Yes! I was just trying to look up a way to do this and I'm sad that it's not currently possible. Each class section I have is split into 2 subgroups by alphabet so only half the students attend in person each day but they're not split that way in Canvas. If I want the due dates to be correct I would need to manually type the student names but having to do that for all 135 names divided into 4 different subgroups is not worth the time or effort so I usually just make one due date later in the week. This has caused some issue with things like students not having their practice test done before taking the test in class because they didn't realize they were supposed to because of the due date. This would also make differentiation easier for teacher who assign things a little differently based on student needs!!

There are SO many comments but not very many "votes" so please remember to vote on this as well!! (It's the 5 star rating thing at the top and I think it's SUPER unclear that that's how you "vote" but apparently it is) Yes, I tell students in the quiz instructions and in class that those questions go in as zero and to try not to worry about their grade until I get to check it but I still get messages from concerned students! This is a massive pain and I HATE that it doesn't show up in our "to-do" showing that it needs grading. I always put a comment that just says "✓" after I grade their test so I know which ones I've double checked but the speed grader sorting is still and issue. For these I usually choose to sort by submission date which helps a little bit but it's still not perfect.

@arm1990 Definitely!! I think one of the issues is that people are commenting but not "voting" on the idea (which I think is partially Canvas's fault because I don't think it's very clear that using the star rating is how you vote)

I just made some assignments in new quizzes before I realized this was an issue and now I've had to let all the students know not to freak out about their scores because I will be going back in manually to award partial credit for those problems. Please fix this!! It should definitely be the default to get partial credit on the matching questions (as well as categorical questions)! It works in classic quizzes so it seems like it should have been the way new quizzes was set up from the start too.

I would love to see this fixed!! It's definitely a pain to have students be forced to download the file when it's not something they actually need to do. I haven't been able to get the inline preview to work either and even if I were to get it to work for myself I'm sure it would still be an issue for many students and I wouldn't want to have to try to troubleshoot that with them.
