My class has met three times. Student "A" has missed one of the three classes. Why is his Attendance score 100% in Gradebook?
I see my problem now. I had not actually marked the student absent (red X) I had just NOT marked him present. Now I know!
Thanks for the help.

Bonnie, as long as you have not edited the Attendance assignment in any way, and as long as you have in fact marked Student A absent for one of the three days and present for the other two, the student's current attendance grade should be 67%. Roll Call always calculates based on a denominator comprised of the number of days available. So 1 out of 1 equals 100%, 2 out of 2 equals 100%, and 2 out of 3 equals 67%.
Did you do anything--anything at all--to the Attendance assignment that was automatically created after you took attendance for the first time? That's usually where problems begin.
For the sake of completeness, here's the link to the guide that explains how the grade works: How is Roll Call Attendance graded in Canvas? As you'll see, the guide states in bold letters,
To avoid Attendance calculation errors, never delete, rename, or unpublish the Attendance assignment.
...which is why I ask whether you did anything at all to the assignment. So let us know!
I have read that part of the guide. I do not recall doing anything to modify or delete the attendance assignment. It is only reading incorrectly for one individual student, the other scores are correct.
