I couldn’t do my job without Canvas; it is truly transformative. However, the range of digital innovations available through the platform is vast can intimidate some colleagues. There are many complex reasons for this, and, as a result, many secondary school teachers, both experienced and those new to the profession, do not engage with digital technologies as much more than an ‘add on’ to their practice. The challenge for new Canvas schools is to integrate its use into ordinary classroom practice in a way that benefits students and is accessible and manageable for teachers. I spent this year developing strategies to do just this. I shall explore the successes, benefits and some potential pitfalls that I have met this year.
