Derek Muller is a science communicator, filmmaker, and television presenter. He is best known for creating Veritasium, a science YouTube channel with over 2.4 million subscribers and 148 million views. Veritasium covers topics ranging from the pyramids to the scale of the universe and even Facebook’s business model.

Muller graduated from Queen’s University with a B.Sc. in engineering physics in 2004 and completed a Ph.D. in physics education research from the University of Sydney in 2008. His thesis, “Designing Effective Multimedia for Physics Education,” was the subject of his TEDxSydney talk in 2012.

Muller has been featured on TV hosting the ABC program “Catalyst,” and he has appeared on BBC, Discovery, and the History Channel. In 2015 he is releasing a documentary on PBS all about radiation and how uranium has shaped the modern world from atomic bombs to Chernobyl and Fukushima.
