Allow regrading of fill-in-the-blank questions

This idea has been developed and deployed to Canvas

Regrading of fill-in-the-blank questions is essential.  It's had some traction in the past but we've not gotten enough votes at the same time to get it through. (Previous versions: Regrade fill-in-the-blank questions  and Regrade fill-in-the-blank answers that are changed after quiz is submitted ) So let's try a concerted effort!

The request:

Please add the fill-in-the-blank question type to the current Regrade function.

It would be really nice to be able to remove incorrectly labelled "right" answers, or add additional right answers, and have Canvas reevaluate students' quizzes.

179754_pastedImage_3.pngThank you for your Feature Idea submission,  @emily . You're right in referencing: Regrade fill-in-the-blank questions  and Regrade fill-in-the-blank answers that are changed after quiz is submitted, which were both submitted in a different voting period, but archived due to lack of votes or inadequate response.

Since archived ideas can be re-submitted, your idea will be open for vote in the next voting cycle (My 4, 2016).

In the meantime, help your idea gain traction by posting a link to this idea in the comments of the other, archived idea (which will notify author and anyone who is following the idea) and share your idea to colleagues and peers as well.

This would be great, we have greatly missed this feature since switching to Canvas in 2012!!

I'm very curious about the reasons why people have actively voted this idea down.  Would anyone who has "downvoted" be willing to share why they think this feature would not be a good idea?

We will look into updating a variety of item types in the Canvas Studio: Modern Quizzing Engine .  Stay tuned for more announcements over the next several months. For now, I suggest we archive this idea until we have more to share for the future of testing in Canvas.

This would be a wonderful addition.  This idea goes to show that the current voting process for ideas is a broken system. There shouldn't be a time limit on voting.

This isn't just wonderful it's actually a function of many LMS' to actually regrade quizzes based on the updated answers. Teachers need to do this all the time. It's a part of their job. Moodle shines much brighter than Canvas here and it's open source. Canvas is expensive and should have this basic functionality. No popularity contest for feature additions should be thought of for such things. Teachers work around the problems and don't visit the community. They have a job to do using the product that the school voted into use probably thinking such basic functions worked. From my perspective Canvas is broken out of the box because of simple stuff like this.
