All of my course cards and banners are gifs, but they no longer animate. I switched them out for Easter, and when I switched back to the original image, it would no longer animate. If I switch back to the Easter picture, it no longer animates either, although it was working earlier today.

I saw another topic of this issue that was marked as solved from a few years ago. I figure something must have been updated in Canvas. Anyone know anything?

Yes, I remember having this problem before, it was fixed, but now it's back.

I've uploaded 3 different gifs to the course card for a new course, none are showing as animated. I have an animated gif for an existing course ... tried uploading that same gif to a new course ... it's still animated on the old course, but not the new one. Same file.

I looked into this for you and found that there is currently a support ticket open for this issue that is currently being investigated. What I suggest is submitting a ticket to Canvas support so your case can be documented and attached to the ticket, this way you will be notified once the issue has been resolved.

And updates on what's going on with animated gifs and course cards? And not to be overlooked thank you Peter for letting us know that there is an open support ticket on this matter! 🙂
