I had my students upload an image of a test question to canvas. I made annotations on the image to give feedback on their work. The students are telling me they cannot see the annotations? What do I need to do so they can see their work with my notes? Attached is an image of what I'm seeing in Speed Grader for one student. He can only see his original file submission, not my notes.
Hello @amysmithson and welcome to the Canvas Community! Thanks for reaching out and your question. I'm not to familiar with annotations via Canvas. However, after some research I did come across a two how-to guides from a students perspective vs instructors. I have listed them below:
How do I view annotation feedback comments from my instructor directly in my assignment submission?

Hope this is helpful. Thanks!
No answer provided... so here I am clarifying the issue:
This is for an upload question inside a Canvas quiz
Please don't respond with the generic " how to submit/view annotation feedback from an assignment". That is a different topic, and no-issues there.
Here, we are talking about a Canvas quiz.
One, or more questions are of the type" file upload".
Then, as instructors we can open our canvas app in our ipad, and the app allows us to use the annotation tools to edit the file.
But it seems like nobody else can see the annotations we made. So, what is the point?
When students go to their graded quiz there is no " view feedback" for students to click ( this does exist in an assignment, but not in quizzes).
If they click in the pdf file, they see the same one they uploaded, without the annotations.
Is there any way students can see the annotations we made in the canvas app in the ipad?
Same problem here. So far I have not been able to find any way for students to see this feedback. Which is pretty annoying, because it took a long time to write that feedback in the quizzes for them. What a waste of time.
Like you said it works fine in assignments (there is a "view feedback" button or something like that) but no such button seems to exist in quizzes for some unknown reason.
I wonder if there is a way to download the annotated file and upload it as an attachment in quiz comments? Might take a while...
Ok so here is one option ... click on the upload icon at the bottom left of the annotated file. Save to files. Then in the comments section, click the plus sign and attach a file. Pick the file you just saved. They can now view your comments. Takes about 5 button clicks, so not ideal but not terrible.
