I have a student who is trying to answer an assignment for a professor. The options of the assignment are text entry or file upload. Every time the student attempts to complete the assignment they receive an error message, "error updating submission draft" see below image.
I went in and acted as the student and attempted to submit a response and received the same message. All other students in the class have been able to submit their response to the assignment. I cannot locate something different here.
Any ideas of a next step of the troubleshooting?

Here is a work around solution that some of my students gave me.
1) Click on your prrofile on the left side and select the Files menu option
2) upload your assignment into your MyFiles folder
3) Go to the assignment page and click on submit/New attempt (new attempt if you had already submitted once before and are trying to update the file)
4) at the bottom where you upload the file , click on more options
5) select the my files folder and select your assignment that you uploaded and then click on upload, then click on submit
I hope this helps some of you out.
Hi @mattgraf
The first thing that comes to mind is that the due or availability dates have passed. Did you verify that the assignment is still open for submissions?
Otherwise, I can only suggest a support ticket.

I have a student with this exact error message, but I have checked the teachers assignment and module settings and there is no restriction on the date. Any suggestions? This assignment is a prerequisite for progression to the next. Thanks.

I ended up having the student email the submission to the professor and he was able to enter the grade manually. I have not had another issue since then.
We are experiencing this error with about a third of a class today. Any new information on this error?
Some of my students are seeing this from Friday 2/19/21 - 2/21/21.
The assignment is still available. Some students were able to submit on Saturday after seeing the message Friday. However some students saw the message on Sunday.

Doesn't help. My files only hold 53mb the assessment is a video at @93mb and no I can't compress it as I lose the quality.
I found my solution. One computer was using a VPN and the other wasn't. The computer with the VPN was receiving this error. The computer without the VPN wasn't receiving this error.
