Why is there not an auto-save feature in the text box for discussion forums?

Hi,  @josiah_choi  Welcome to the Canvas Community! The auto save capability for the Rich Content Editor is available for users of the New RCE. If you don't see that feature, it means that your school has not enabled "RCE Enhancements" and "RCE Auto-Save" at the account level (the first must be enabled in order to accommodate the second), so please reach out to the eLearning department for your school for additional guidance.

Most schools should already have the New RCE available and ready to use in their own Canvas environments.  This documentation might help you:

What you'll really want to take a look at, though, is this short tutorial video:

If the New RCE interface that appears in this video has the same toolbar set as what you see within your own courses, then you know that you are using the New RCE.  If you are seeing anything different than that, then you'll need to reach out to your school's local Canvas administrator.
