How can I create an Avitar?

I'm not sure if you realized this or not, but you've posted your question in the global Canvas Community website.  We can help answer questions you may have about the Canvas LMS (Learning Management System), but questions outside of Canvas might be a bit more difficult.

Are you wanting to add an avatar for yourself to add to your Canvas Community profile?  If so, you can click on your avatar image at the top right corner of your screen, and then select "Community FAQ" from the menu that appears.  On the screen that you'll see, scroll down to the section on "Settings", and you'll find a topic about changing your image/avatar there.

On the other hand, if you're asking about updating your avatar picture within your school's Canvas environment, you can follow these directions:

If you are just asking about how to create an avatar in general terms, you might want to search Google for keywords such as "create an avatar" (or something similar), and I'm sure there would be sites that you could do just that.

Chris, I'd like to know how I can change my avitar within the canvas community. All I seem to have is various pandas and a few complex abstract patterns. I'd like to make my own but see no option to upload my own? Can this be done?

Hi there, @scottie_uk ...

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I do know that Community Managers recently made some changes and tweaks to how roles and rankings work.  It looks like you are a New Member, and so that might limit your current ability to upload your own avatar to your Community profile.  This is based on the following article:

I'd encourage you to also look at the two links related to ranks under the heading "Build Your Profile".  So, it might be the case that you need do more of "all the things" here in the Community until you are able to select your own avatar.

Kristin's article mentions " selecting one of our provided avatars", So I can only presume that this feature does no longer exist, it should. There's only so many pandas one can take, nice though they are.

The panda avatars do exist for Canvas Community profiles.

But, from what I take from Kristin's article, uploading an avatar won't be available to you until you do "more of the things" here in the Community.  So, the more you participate in the community, the more things you'll be able to do...which I'm assuming uploading your own avatar is one of those things.  🙂
