Hi,
We are moving to another LMS next year and i have been asked to find away to bulk archive all of Canvas especially student submissions as we are required to keep data for min of 3 years.
Is this possible without asking individuals to download their own course?
Also to add, Data in 2020 needs to have read access outside of the Canvas system.

Hi @abass44
I am sorry to hear you are leaving Canvas, but it is what it is.
Your very best option is to contact Canvas Support and check on your options through them. The challenge will be getting the content in a readable format. The best bet there, might be to simply move the content to the new LMS, but that is way above my expertise and pay grade!

Hi
We're in the same situation - moving to another LMS and need to bulk download all student assessment data, grades, feedback, etc. We found out how to do this for an individual student but this takes about 10 minutes per student. Multiply that by 2000 students and we're looking at a dedicated staff member doing nothing but downloads for a couple of months - not really ideal!
Spoke to Canvas support as this post suggests and Canvas support suggest that I check the online forums. So its round and round in circles we go...
Can anyone provide an actual solution here? Every other system I've ever worked with has a simple export function to handle this requirement.
The other options presented to me were:
- continue paying for canvas until our data retention period (7 years) is up. But that sounds a lot like extortion to me.
- find a developer that can create an API command to automate the export process. I'd be open to this option.
Is there anyone out there who can help?
