Can I have students break into smaller groups within our class time and then come back together to share?

Hello  @lmc61  Welcome to the Canvas Community.  If the person(s) who have admin access to your school's Zoom account have configured it to allow for breakout rooms, then you should be able to use them in your own Zoom meetings.  Here's an info page I found for you (which also includes a short tutorial video) so you can see how this might work: Getting Started with Breakout Rooms – Zoom Help Center.
