[ARCHIVED] Can courses owned by different teachers be connected by navigation buttons?

I am an elementary specialist. We are trying to give students a one-click way to move between homeroom and specials. I know how to get the link to my colleague's homepage and connect the link to a "button" in my course but I haven't been able to see the button work unless we I am a co-teacher in the other course, and visa versa. I get an "access denied" message if we are not co-teachers. I'm assuming the link doesn't work for me without being a co-teacher because I am not a member of the other course.

Will the students enrolled in both courses be able to use the links to get back and forth without getting an error message if the teachers are not co-teachers on each other's courses? I would rather not have 40 courses on my dashboard if it's possible. Thanks for your help!

You are correct that you are getting an access denied message because you are not on the roster of that course.  If your students are on both rosters the link should work fine.  How about you and the other teacher adding each other to your rosters in Canvas so you can easily see how the link works?  You wouldn't need to have a teacher role in the course.  If it's just a matter of seeing the other content the Observer role would work well and NOT put you in the Gradebook.  The biggest question will be if your school has it set to allow you to add others.  Check out this link to see how to add people to your course https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/How-do-I-add-users-to-a-course/ta-p/1119
